Advice needed from experienced SEO Warriors

My website is Nexus7UK - Google Nexus 7 Tablet reviews.. and I want to rank well in google for the URL address 'nexus 7 uk', now when i google this keyword phrase the top rankings are for large review or shop websites such as; Cnet, currys.co.uk, t3.com, dailymail.co.uk etc.

These websites do not have the keyword phrase in this order however, usually 'nexus 7' and then 'UK' is found somewhere else.. and i want to know what are the possibility of my site ranking in google.co.uk top 10 for this phrase?

You see i don't want to waste my time optimizing for this phrase if i am fighting a battle that can't be won,

I appreciate any help and advice you can give me,

    Hi, the real question has to be does anyone use the exact search term. It should be relatively easy to beat the competing pages you have mentioned but if nobody is actually searching for that term then it would be a pointless exercise. The exact search data has to be the starting point in assessing the potential. Jim

    The keyword phrase nexus 7 uk gets 1900 exact local (UK) monthly searches, which is not too bad. The competition for that keyword phrase isn't too difficult, so it's definitely achievable.

    One point I would make is that if you are targeting a UK audience, you would be better off with a .co.uk domain.

      Thanks for the advice next time i will go for co.uk if for uk market,

      Okay I knew there were searches for that phrase and that's why i choose it for my domain name, but problem is i am a newbie with how to make my site appear on page 1 of google,

      So I know the theory - get backlinks (Started this) from popular sites is not happening yet, do Social bookmarking (I have to a degree) and optimize the keywords on the site.

      I am a little confused, backlinks are proving harder than I thought to get from other people, I created 2 tumblr blogs linking to my site, have twitter (70 followers), facebook and G+ pages up and autoposting, i take it from experts that backlinking is just hard work?

      optimize for keywords is going ok, i just need to read more help to get it perfect,

      I need more time in my life for seo, because i don't have the time I need help free or possibly paid,

      I don't expect readers to answer this post with exactly what they would do next to put the site on page 1, but it would help

      If you could recommend services out there that will help me in consideration of my sites current state and me being a newbie I would appreciate it,

    For one thing, if you are building links for that exact phrase "nexus 7 uk" those links are going to be pretty quickly identified as unnatural. Google's semantic abilities have gotten a lot better these last few updates which is why the people ranking do not have those keywords in that exact order. If you look at the link profiles of those sites, they probably have zero links with that term as well.

    Page Analyzer. Keyword placement, keyword density, prominence , link popularity, google positions and much more.
    One thing they do highlight is your lack of keywords in header tags which can give a SEO boost. Jim
