I am looking for advise from people with SEO knowledge. my question is I want to create a free magazine for the web. i can not get a decent domain name that has enough direct phrase match searches. is it possible to buy a domain name that is close enough to a major forum name phrase to land it on number two spot in Google for the forum search phrase. the forum is called 'wrong planet' and it is a Aspergers forum. if i bought 'wrong planet magazine' would i be able to build the url so that it was number two under wrong planet forum? there is no other competition in that phrase match.

You can buy a domain called blackcatz1.com and appear on the top for desired keywords with a proper on-off site SEO.

Trying to piggyback of a high traffic domain with a similar domain name isn't a good idea (IMO). The new domain name doesn't have to include the legit sites domain name to rank first page in the SERPs.

The name is a bit lengthy why don't you take a shot at your own brand name.

You can rank any domain for any keyword you desire, it's all about optimizing the title, tags and description.

Another option I have seen work IF you want exact match domains is to add "-" in between the words i.e. "wrong-planet-aspergers" or whatever you are looking to rank for.

But as you have gotten feedback on in this thread so far it doesn't have to be exact match or even close to it. There are many other "on-page" factors that are going to have a much higher return on SEO time invested.

Since there is no other competition then yo could get any domain name and rank where you want to. Just need proper onsite SEO and a little quality offsite SEO.

Agreed, no competition, pick whatever name you like as the "money site".

Buy up the exact match sites and use them to link build to the money site from different IP's.

You'll be number 1 in no time and have a number of ready made backlink magnets.

This is common place for large sites anyways.. I can tell you my domain name has nothing in common with the keywords I rank #1 for... Comes down to the quality of your content and backlinks.
