It's not quantity.. it's quality. On the last PR update, I had a 3 week old health blog jump to a pr2. I had a total of 14 backlinks.. all from comments on other blogs.

Conversely, I've seen sites with thousands of backlinks at a PR1.

    Quality.

I second him on this. One link from a quality PR 5+ site is worth hundreds of links from worthless PR 0 sites

No one can say HOW many links you will need to get to a PR 1.

What it really depends on is how GOOD are the links in which are pointing back to your website.

    You just need good links.

If you get high page ranked domains pointing to your site then your website also get PR.
The links must be dofollow if you are focusing on the PR only.
If your goal is to get the higher ranks then get both the dofollow and nofollow links!

I have not much idea about the Page Ranking, but read a lot. If we have quality pages , we would get high PR. I came across many such advertisement which claims that they would help any website to get high PR, I want to know from the experts here that what is the truth behind their claims of giving High PR.

If you want to get high PR for your website then it is must to do extremely selected work with extreme quality that it cannot make any sense of spamming in front of Google's crawlers. Get only those backlinks for your website, which are of your category with high quality content over there. Definitely you will get good PR soon.

Backlinks or link building is one of the ways for a website to be ranked up. Since Google has updated their algorithm, Penguin, many websites have been dropped down because of their low quality websites and spamming links. The regular backlinks you can do everyday for each submission is around 10 to 20. This may take 1 month for you to get a PR1 on your website.

It could be just one, it could be hundreds of them.

Concentrate on the quality of the backlinks not the quantity.

And start aiming not at the Page Rank. The PR will come on it's own when it is time to.

Concentrate on content and quality link building.

No PR1 is not very important but once I know how to juice a buffer site I would be able to build a high PR network by doing page rank sculpting. However I think I missed a word. I should ask how many PR N/A backlinks required to increase PR of a page to PR1.

There is no answer to that.

I think you mean how many PR 0 links would it take. PR n/a usually signifies a page that is not indexed yet or has been previously deindexed.

NO one can tell you that either. You don't understand how Pr works and how it flows through links. You could point a thousand PR0s at a page and get nothing or you could point ten and get PR1. all depends on what the fractional Pr is on those pages you are getting links and how many links are on that page.

Mike I understand that no. of OBL is important. Not only that but also I have increased PR of one of my clients site from 0 to 6 within just 3 months. But Im asking this question here as now I am noticing some strange changes.

First of all I usually build 10 dofollow contextual backlinks from web 2.0 sites to get PR1. Usually weebly, webs, squidoo(dofollow), blogger, insanejournal, identi.ca(not contextual), bebo, mobypicture, blog and wordpress total 10 one way backlinks from 10 different class c ip address is good to get PR1. I have used these websites many times to increase PR of my newly hosted domain. But after last PR update I have noticed none of my websites get PR1. Sometime I harvest dofollow blogs and then blast to these web 2.0 buffer sites to funnel juice to these sites. A link wheel of these 10 buffer sites helps a lot. Even I got PR3 buffer sites by using this simple method.

I have asked this question here mainly because I just wanted to know if anyone come with any new information regarding PR as I am noticing my old method is not working!

PR6 With all PR Os and N/A. from Web 2.0 regardless of OBL?? You know what? I can't even bother. IF you knew enough to do that then you would know that no one can predict to you x amount of links gets you this x pagerank. Once you say you know better and still come with the same nonsense theres no reason for anyone to be bothered with this thread.

Just find 50 websites related to yours and ask them for link exchange. Prepare before to post their links on a indexed page in your website. Ask to be post on a indexed page. Contact real business not junk websites.

I guarantee u will have atleast PR 2 at the next update.

Actually, you are wrong. That chart is just speculation. Nobody knows for sure, and anybody claiming to know is a full of shit. The number of outbound links on each of those pages is going to impact the PR that is passed on, so there is no way to just say XXX amount of links equals PR XX.

I'm constantly getting PR3 with a single backlink , so basically there's no answer to your question. If you have a decent source with a low OBL you don't need big numbers at all. Homever I don't understand why is everyone worried about their PR. Page rank wont get you traffic, conversions, money , food , customers etc etc

Quantity will not work in exclusion of at least some "quality". In other words if there is zero PR. The confusion comes from the fact that Google counts in wholes on their PR toolbar but PR can and most often is fractional. For that reason a PR 0 page can have 0.94 PR juice and still show PR 0 (won't change in tool bar until it gets to full 1.0) and another page with no PR whatsoever (for example it has no navigation to the page) will show the same PR 0 or more likely N/A.

Thankfully most pages have some PR but its because there is quality flowing from somewhere else.

For getting Page rank for a website quantity of links never works. It depends upon quality. Get incoming links from high quality websites in your niche. The best way to improve your rank is to obtain backlinks to your website from highly authoritative sites. The more links you have pointing to your site from relevant sources, the better your page rank gets.

As far as my knowledge goes, there is no such rule as to a specific number of backlinks to get a PR1. There is no doubt that backlinks are important, However, equal importance should also be given to your website, as well.

I hereby give you an equation which you may follow: targeted on-page solutions + proper off-page promotions = improvement in PR

Keep on coming up with great quality content for your site and reach out to the masses through off-line promotions, including the various social channels.

I would like to bring to your notice that PR is definitely very important for a site to gain popularity in the long run. However, too much concentration on PR may pose a threat for you in other ways in the long run.

Awaiting eagerly for others views on my suggestion.

There isn't a fix answer to get a PR1, though.

SEO nowsaday is all about earnings the link, not much about getting it though.
(because most of the backlinks you're trying to get might eventually affected in certain way because of google changes or even a crushed by your competitors could possibly happen too)

It counts but it won't do a lot for you. The links that are most powerful are:

        1. From sites considered authority sites. (high PR and lots of quality incoming links and lots of traffic)

        2. From pages that have a similar theme to the one it links to. (A link to a weight loss page from a weight loss page is better than from an internet marketing page)

        3. From pages with few other outgoing links. (A link with no other links on the page is better than one with 1000 other outgoing links)

Those three factors are what you want. A link from an authority site with the same theme as your page with few other outgoing links and you've struck GOLD!

You do not only get a high Google PR by getting backlinks. You will mainly be needing traffic in large amounts. Also do not concentrate on the PR all the time, that will come automatically.

It doesn't really matter how many links you got, what really matters to Google is the quality of these links and either they come from relevant sources or not. And of course if the PR of referring sites is higher than those of yours, the link will eventually pass some of the referring site's PR.
As many have said in this thread, Google PR is not that frequently updated, only 3-4 times a year, so all your quality backlinks should be considered before the next PR update.
Just keep on with what you're doing, forum posting, sharing your content on social platforms are essential for off-page. Guest blogging sounds like a good idea as well..

Depends on the quality of backlinks. Needs time and as many links as possible.

Honestly - a single PR 2 backlink could do it.

But as things go nowadays, it's very very very slow...

    Good luck!

    It's about link juice.

1 link from a pr3 could do it.

You need to factor in: Pagerank/authority of the page, the number of outlinks on the page, where your link is on the page and several other factors to gather how valuable a link is.

So the answer could be... several thousand... or it could be 1. It all depends

Basically though, the key to ranking is basically PR (Authority) and relevence. Those are the holy grail links you should go after. For example, if your site is a cooking site. Pr5 cooking blog, within a blog post would be an excellent link.
