Is Adwords REALLY that picky?

You know, we've all heard the stories of how Adwords has cracked down on the kind of sites they will allow you to advertise, and about how hard it is to get ads/sites approved, all in the name of improving quality, giving the customer what they want, etc. Ok, makes sense....until you see a site like this advertising when you search for "bladder control":Campbell Bladder Clinic

How in the heck does a site like that get approved for Adwords when you consider many of the sites that don't?

    Hi BHC,

    I doubt the landing page looked like that when the ad was approved. The page has probably changed sometime after the last review.

    AdWords does periodic reviews of all landing pages, so it is only a matter of time before this page is discovered and the ad is disapproved. What's more they will flag the website domain and ban it from future ads, the advertiser will then need to pass a much more intense scrutiny by a higher level reviewer.

    Well what they do, in this case often they get approved using different page then after their use 301 redirect so when visitor's click on advertising Add it get redirect straight to the affiliate product or another landing page with affiliate link on it ...

    Could you guys enlighten me as to what you see or what you think is wrong with this page? I see a bladder clinic in Portland OR telling visitors about their services and inviting them to set an appointment. Nothing wrong with it.

    No ads on my end either... I see a real site with content and they are offering an applicable service... Hhmmm... that may mean you can get away with murder if you show Adword's crawler one version of your site and serve another version to visitors

    Adwords does routine reviews and they will probably get shut down eventually. What they are doing is definitely against the TOS.

      Yep. Some companies/sites can get away with it a little longer because they haven't gone through a manual review. But they will get caught eventually. I see this situation all the time.

    your URL is a different one.

    The only thing what can happen is, that for some countries and/or IPs the server of the original URL is doing a redirect. USA gets redirect?

      Hi dcary13,

      Sorry, but you are wrong. That is the URL in the OP.

      Perhaps you have been fooled by the image at the top of the page that looks like a search bar. It isn't, it is just an image at the top of the page. However the landing page is loaded in a frame, so it probably doing a sneaky redirect in an attempt to hide the ads from AdWords review.

    Ah, i wondered - well, technically then they did not redirect as i assumed from your screenshot - they cloak.

    I see the legal site too - from europe here.

    If you want harm them, report it to google or bink. Cloaking to a fake content site is clearly against every SE TOS and they will get deindexed and with a high chance banned from their ads company.

    If you see the fake page - try to change the referrer to google bot. If they are not fully IP driven you should see the other page, i assume.
