How do you really want to learn if you lose interest in reading about it? All I can say is the only way I learn is by google searching everything which does require.. reading

I think you're reading the wrong stuff, SEO is about trying/testing/common sense, books only teach you outdated stuff 9 out of 10 times.

So throw away those books, build a website, build links, wait 6 weeks and see how it works out. No improvement? Change your strategy!

Fully agree with you sir. I am also a beginner and learning a lot from here. But whatever the fact is implementation. You can learn ton of things but if you dont implement anything you cant figure the actual things.

Yes, of course. SEO requires constant experimentation, especially because it changes so often. Even knowledge that was commonly given a few days ago may have changed already. You have to keep up with all the changes.

Read, read and read some more. Find reputable ebooks, watch videos, and trial and error.

SEO is constantly changing. So what you learn today may not apply tomorrow.

    • If you don't have the time or patience to read books, watch how to videos on SEO, read tutorials, and browse through the wealth of information available on blogs and forums. Learn some basic things and then try to implement what you've learned. For example, you can set up a personal blog, write a few posts, and optimize them for search engines. The more you practice, the more things you will learn.

You can be a part of different forums to learn about SEO more easily and in detail. You can ask for any query you are having from the warrior members and engage with them.Or if you want to read About it from an eBook then you can have SEOMOZ and Google'Starter guide downloaded.

SEOmoz's blog is a good source of SEO information. Some of the information can get very tech and advanced, but it's good stuff to know and be exposed to.

I would definetely focus on SEOmoz, and other high ranking SEO authorities. Mainly you need to just analyze what SEO campaigns work currently.

I suggest that you try applying everything that you have learned and see how it turns out. Real SEO learning begins when you throw all your inhibitions and start ranking a website.

Once you encounter some barriers, you can always ask questions. This works especially if you don't love to read books. But I do suggest that you develop that because in this world, you need to keep up with all the information changes to make it big.

Don't limit yourself to just reading seo books. There are a lot of videos out there. And also, I started learning SEO not from those books. I watched mostly videos of what seo stuff i need to do and applied them.

Actually there is not even that much to learn about SEO

    Offpage:

    - Build strong links
    - Where to find them? Email webmasters or buy high PR expired domains
    - Niche relevant web directories can also help
    - Vary up your anchor txt or use the url as anchor

    Onpage:

    - Put your keyword in the title and once or twice inside the content
    - Write keyword rich content (not to confuse with keyword stuffing)
    - Optimize a page for max 2-3 keywords by following the above 2 rules
    - In case of affiliate/adsense sites, keep the max number of affiliate links or ads per page to 2-3

This are the absolute basics of course, but if you apply that then you can't do much wrong really.

    More advanced methods

    - Silo structuring your website (Yukon inspiry)
    - Linking relevant internal pages with each other
    - Ranking multiple pages for the same set of kw's to increase overall strength.

If you just follow those simple rules then you already do better then 95% of the people at this forum.

I'm a big reader but there are just some books I can't finish. Why not try videos then? I've seen lots of WSO offering video tutorials. Some people learn better through videos so you may want to try that. Lots of YT videos too but you have to sort through the outdated strategies.

If you lose interest in a book you will probably lose interest reading about it online. Maybe just find somebody on here to hire.

Depends, some people learn from doing, some learn from reading and some learn from watching. I can personally read something and forget it the next day!!

I search online, read blogs, read this forum and the ocassional youtube video.

I would suggest to break it down in topics of SEO

First learn about on-page SEO, then learn about Backlinks, etc etc
