Help with SEO strategy needed

Hi All,

I have an SEO question, which I kind of know the answer to, but I would like some input anyway.

I have just published a novel on Kindle and I want to get as many links to it as I can - obviously. Initially I created a personal blog and added a page that linked to the Amazon download/sales page. My thinking being that blogs are Google friendly and the best strategy would be to build links to my blog and link to Amazon from there.

Then I decided it would be nice to have a site that was named after the book, The Mary Celeste Papers, as it has a keyword (of sorts) built into it. So I used Optimize Press to build www.TheMaryCelestePapers.com. What I planned to do was have the site basically be just a single landing page, which would link to Amazon - please take a look, you'll see what I mean.

The trouble with this is that based on this single page site, I can't actively build links to it, as there is no revolving content and the Panda will not be happy.

So, where I think that leaves me is either to go back to bulding links to my blog, which is a pretty uninspiring thing at present, or I can add a blog to www.themarycelestepapers and treat that as a kind of author's blog.

Anybody got any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Paul

By the way, the book is in the FREE download period at the moment. Just go to Amazon and search for the title if you are interested.

I would definitely add a blog and a mailing list. You can advertise on your blog and directly to your mailing list when you have more books for sale and when they are free.

Don't just build a blog for SEO, while that will be great, build a brand. The blog should be about the subject, write quality content, build up a social presence, have a twitter and update it, post related content, engage your target audience in social media, market the product more than just SEO, if you establish yourself as an authority in that niche people will naturally buy the book, it will take time but it will have a much greater ROI than just building a blog for SEO purposes! Good luck!

Paul, you can get links by link building, but before link building, you should be aware of Link Building Best Practices By Google. Also you can use Facebook by making your page and get valueable links from your fans via sharse at facebook.

Add a blog to the landing page and publish compelling pieces of content on it. Aside from fleshing out your site and shielding it from Panda penalties, it can drive more traffic and attract natural links to your site.
