Lately I've been looking for many exact-match-domains with low competition.
I have 10 keywords with EMDs ready to buy and build.
All keywords are 1000+ local search and $1+ CPC.
What should I do?

Build high quality sites and you won't have a problem - the update only targets Low Quality EMDs

Mine got tossed off Google completely. I think it flags hypenated emds and de indexes the crap out of them. My site as well as a ton of links just vanished yesterday and my site was in good standing.

        Did they de-index the site?

when I type the exact domain name in with the .com it comes up.
          all the backlinks are gone.

I could of swore the hyphen even showed up in search results. Its part of the domain name. I can't be sure about anything because I have short term memory.

Anyone else see weird results with hyphenated domain names? Are your backlinks still indexed?

absolute lie - Its targetting ALL EMD not just poor quality ones

      Fact!

preganancy.co.uk and a slew of other including mine which were 60 plus pages of unique content and furthermore.

the penalty doesnt just affect the SINGULAR KEYWORD assosciated with the END - its slaughtering ALL the keywords.

basically ALL EMD sites are getting hit, with one exception!

      Mattcutts.com

for some reason little matts site which really isnt about Matt but more about Google, strangely enough (or should i say predictably so) that site flies under the radar - yet pregnancy.co.uk would have benefitted more if the domain name was called 9monthsofhell.com

Google you have turned from bad to worse this year, we are hoping Blekko or Apple will see the potential for positive change back to the old days where search was NOT about $$$$ but a way to find RELEVANT info fast!

Sorry, not a fact at all. I could give examples but that would give away too much. I have a couple EMDs not affected, and I can list several QUALITY sites that are EMDs that are doing very well.

If I go to Google.com and search pregnancy, pregnancy.com is #2 and pregnancy.org is #6. That completely flies in the face of what you are saying.

preganancy.co.uk is ranking on the first page of Google.co.uk, right where it should be.

There is still good money to be made with EMD's, it just takes more effort to make sure they contain quality content, but this would have helped you before the update, it just makes it a necessity now

Does it mean that I shouldn't build any new Micro-niche EMD sites?

I would scrap that idea totally. It's like swimming against the stream. You don't need to build 10 different sites to rank for 10 different keywords.

Build one website with a unique domain name and build 10 content pages with your keywords in them. Then link to the same domain over and over. It's easier and more effective than building 10 smaller sites.

This is the best advice in the thread so far.

          I know,
But what if the 10 keywords are completely different niches?
Also, do you only suggest building links for home page?

Build a general site. They can and do work. Not every site HAS to be a niche site. As for links, I never build my own links. Others will differ on that advice though. If you are going to build links, build them to the individual pages if they are the ones you want to rank.

Out of 10 different niche's pick just ONE (the best one) and create a quality website around that one topic and fine more and more topics to add to the same website that relate to your main keyword.

Trying to think about 10 different niche's at once your not going to be able to build 10 high quality websites. Just pick one, note the others down.
Once you have built your first one up to a good standard then think about
            the others

This is where it takes creativity, you may need to add a few other topics to your website to build a bridge to the desired keyword so it makes sense to your visitors. I have a website that covers creating a name in a made up language to
how to use textures in photoshop. It all gets great traffic, ranks really really well and I have a nice day during updates.

All I want to know is how long this is going to last. Do you guys think this will be more of a permanent thing? If so, I need to start buying up a lot of EMD's myself.

I mostly gave up on my site because it wasn't going any higher up the serps, untill this last update and google launched me right onto page 1. Its the last position of page 1 but still very exciting.

Its NOT an exact match domain, but it does have one of our major keywords in the url. I noticed that ALL THE SITES in my niche, that don't have at least 1 keyword in url, were ALL swept off page 1 & 2. Whats really funny, is I was studying SO MANY of these competitors backlinks... and now they're all gone. Google must have more enemies than anyone I can think of lol.
