Does Google Like Pings, or Do Pings Look Like 'Gaming' the System?

Hey guys,

I just heard recently from a well known Internet Marketer that Google may not like pages or sites that are pinged too quickly or pinged too often because it looks like you're trying to game the system. Is this true or what are your thoughts on this?

    Nope.

    Google doesn't care at all about pings.

    Pings are just a normal part of many sites and are an indication that new content may be present. Google may have been abused to the point where they don't pay so much attention to a site ping any more but it would not make sense to penalise a site for pinging as it's a part of 90% of content management site created websites.

    If you ping ONCE per single post then everything is fine but if you ping more than once per post then soon you may be penalized by search engines. So, not to ping more than once per post. Hope it will help.

    For me, pinging is just a good way of informing certain sites that your page exists. It actually helps Google discover new pages. I don't have enough data to know if pinging too often really results to lower rankings though. In my experience, pinging has helped one of my sites zoom to the front page of Google on its first day.

    Pinging frequently can land you in problem but pinging just a couple of times helps in telling Google that your site has new content and crawl it.Pinging the same page is a big NO.Over Optimization of everything is surely gonna make you feel shattered in case of rankings.
