  It's extremely misleading in two main ways ...
  
  1. Many of the things listed there aren't article directories at all (and that's hugely relevant!).
  
  2. The page ranks shown are those of those sites' own home pages. If you find a way to get your articles published on their own home pages, that might be worth talking about. Until then, you'll just have to make do with non-context-relevant, PR-0 backlinks from articles directories, just like I (and every other article marketer) get, whenever we submit an article to one. Websites don't "have page ranks": only pages have page ranks.
  
  These "lists" are based on, and continually reinforce, a fundamental misunderstanding of what article directories are, how they work, and what purposes they can and can't serve. Some of them may be factually correct (though this one isn't even that) but even then, the "information" they give isn't actually relevant to how we can use those sites to benefit our businesses and our incomes. You can't get much more misguided than that.

  Squidoo definitely works for me. On a side note some of those article directories will automatically accept your article. However, most have no traffic associated with them.

True but it still serves a purpose. Would you rather have your article published on an inner page on the BBC Website or a new PR 1 inner page ? That's an extreme example but just making the point some inner pages will have more power than others.

I don't think definitions are important as all the sites publish information online but I am not recommending submitting to all these sites, just saying .
