Aged Domain - Does it matter if it was NOT attached a hosting for a while?

After getting my site slapped by wild Google-animals, I am finally giving up and decided to build a new site from the scratch, the white-hat style.

Our company used to have YellowBook account, and as a part of the deal they have a mini website running for a few years. After we cancelled the services 6 month ago, they shut down that mini-site.

Yesterday I found out that mini-site's domain has not expired yet, and can be transferred to me for 30$ or so.

I really like that domain name because it consist of Brand Name of our company, and it is 3.5 years old.

Questions:

1) Would it be ok to use that domain name for our new site?
2) Is it bad for SEO that domain was not parked anywhere for the past 6 month?
3) Do I need to keep it at the same Registrar, or can I transfer to another without loosing it's age? Current Registrar is Tucows.

Looking forward for your suggestions

    1) yes

    2) Who cares about this. Really, great content will help, and an old domain will be a plus.

    3) You can transfer.
