I recently came across a word Link magnet a technique which i used for Link building. But i don't know deeply can any one explain?

Link Magnet is similar to linkbaiting. You offer an award of some kind so websites compete to get your award and then place your link-loaded award on their site. If you give out 100 awards, you get 100 free links and get traffic from those sites as well.

I've read about it before but I'm not so sure about it. I think it's linking to web 2.0 sites with an article and linking to forum profiles.

Link magnet is just a word which has almost same meaning as link baiting. Its a link acquisition method in which you build an incentive for people to link to your site.
