CTR Very Low (0.4%) - Please Help

Hello Everyone,

My blog (LinuXplained.com) is in the growing phases. Currently, I get about 27,000 unique visitors a month and about 40,000 pageviews a month. When I had Heatmap Pro v5 theme initially I got about 0.8% CTR. I thought this was low. Then I changed to Genesis Theme Framework. After the change my CTR is even lower (0.4% or less).

I have played around a lot with placements and ad formats based on the Adsense Heatmap. My audience is quite computer savvy and I am suspecting that most of them have Adblock turned on.

The steps I have taken are:
  1. Implented high CTR ad formats: 336x280, 728x90, 300x250, and 160x600 based on heatmap
  2. Added a related post plugin to increase pageviews
  3. Split very long posts to 2-3 pages
  4. Adsense section targeting (some posts only)
  5. Use Keywords tool to identify keywords (some posts only)
I would greatly appreciate if you please quickly checkout my site and provide any ideas to improve my CTR or share any relevant experience you might have had. Thank you for your time.

I am not too sure if you like my idea or not, but if you are looking to increase your CTR, then I would suggest you to use adsense pro ultimate CTR wordpress theme. This has helped me increase ctr (mine is now over 8%), I am sure it would benefit you as well.

There are other CTR themes in case you are interested (see here).

I second him on this one according to a few poles here on warriorforum and other forums as well APU / adsense pro ultimate has proved to be a tough contender

Success story: How I went from $30 to $120 a day using Adsense Pro ultimate Theme

Poll:Settle This once and for All, CTR Theme or Heatmap Theme?

      I hope this helps...

Why does everyone that recommends Adsense Pro Ultimate have around 30 posts and a "thanks" or two. I tried testing the template on one of my niche sites and my CTR plumetted. It also doesn't look that good. Not that CTR theme's usually do out of the box. But with the lack of customizability to the design, you're pretty much stuck with what you get.

I would not be surprised at all if there's some sort of forum spamming going on with this product. Take a look at all the threads that mention Adsense Pro Ultimate. The thread usually starts with a question about which theme is best for CTR, and then there are several posters with around the same post count praising APU. Every one of them has around 30 posts. Where are the experienced warriors at with this theme. From my testing, the results were terrible. I could be wrong, but something seems fishy with these CTR theme threads that get posted.

The position of the ad on the website is everything, try placing an ad bar right above the comments and some in the middle of the post.

If you omit that section at the top with all the boxes with featured blog posts, your site would be fine. That area, especially because it's the first thing you see, is very confusing, and rather than scroll down, it made me want to leave.

      Hope that helps.
