I have read recently that part of the new updates from Google look for sites using anchor texts for the keyword on inbound linking and downgrade them. Is this true. I heard you are better just putting the link to the site surrounded by keyword rich text instead?

If you are creating links with the same keyword every time then google can consider it as link spamming and downgrade your website. You need to change your keyword on a regular basis to maintain keyword diversity.

But I heard they don't like keyword anchor links now. Humans would rarely link using the keyword so you are better writing a snippet followed by a regular url link

you have to use as many different keywords as possible..

Think like this : let's say that you like a page on web and wanted to put the link on your blog for your readers...

Do you think that every single one that doaes that will use the same anchor? This is how Google think about links lately..

Try also generic keywords like this : click here, more details, details inside....

With the recent update in google link scheme you should not use unusual keyword anchor text links. If your keyword links are contextual then it is fine. Otherwise it can create problem for you.

  • Using your keyword in anchor text ALL the time is good way to get slapped. Try using a bunch of different keywords phrases for your anchor texts. Also add these in their

    "visit for more information"

Things of that nature will allow you to diversify your anchor texts and less likely get penalized.

    Thanks

Whatever you heard is just rumors, the real fact is that just over-optimization of keywords will let you down in rankings.
