Adwords Account Suspension - What do I do?

Have any of you had this problem before? What have you done to resolve it?

Basically, I made some mistakes with the wording of some of my AdWords ads, and got penalised under their "Unacceptable Content" rule.
What I didn't realise, is that after setting up a duplicate campaign to test a competing product, I actually submitted the same disaproved ads again.
I didn't check my emails soon enough, and before I knew it my account had been suspended - and after several days (or weeks) of waiting for their correspondance, they told me this wouldn't be reversed. Obviously Adwords don't believe in second chances...

I'm happy to give up promoting this niche (Satellite TV-PC software) if it means I can go on using Adwords again. If I set up a new account, with a new email address, bank account, address (even name) - would this clear the slate? Or would AdWords find out?

Ultimately, is there hope for me with AdWords? Or do I have to move on and stick with MSN and Yahoo?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Felix

Never had this happen to me...but I would say, call them up and tell them what happened.

If that doesn't get you anywhere, call them again the next day...and so on.

It's funny with Google, 1 rep will tell you to get lost, while another will glady help you. So it's just a matter of calling and happening to get the right person on the other end.

    Good Luck

      Hi Robert,

In your post you mentioned that I should call GA to try and get them to unsuspend my account (I've just come back from spending a long time in Japan and China - had a wicked time!). But I've looked all around the site, and I can't find a number to use. Do you have any idea of how to call them?

      Cheers and all the best,

      Felix

        Hi Felix,

I recently had my adwords account suspended, so I feel your pain. In my research I found out a lot of information that hopefully will be helpful to you.

First off, stop and DELETE any campaigns you have that deal with satellite tv, music/game downloads. This is going to play a very important part later on. Big G doesn't like those because they think all of the sites out there are pirating the games. Once you have stopped and deleted those campaigns read through the terms of service and agreement and go through your account and make sure that it is 100% compliant with the google adwords terms and conditions. I cannot stress the importance of that enough. If you find something that is violating it Delete that campaign.

The reason why you want your account to be fully compliant is so when you call them and they review your account, it looks a lot better to have that stuff deleted rather than still running. Explain to your situation, what happened, that you're terribly sorry it will never happen again. I would try to be as nice as possible to who ever answers the phone. No matter what happens or what they say be nice. Hopefully, they unsuspend it, if they tell you that they can't tell them that you want to escalate to a "senior member".

Google is really strict. Most of the times if you violate their terms you're done end of story. There have been people that have gotten their accounts unsuspended, so it's worth a shot.

If they don't unsuspend it you have a couple of options:

        1) Look into other PPC advertising on MSN, Yahoo, and third tier search engines
        2) Start doing article marketing and web 2.0 advertising *this is what I chose*
        3) Try to sneak back into google
-have a family member that is never going to use adwords open an account for you
-open an account under a business entity, new mailing address, new phone number, new credit card, new ip address, make sure you never log into your old gmail account and then log into your new gmail account without clearing cookies, basically leave no way for them to trace your old account to your new account. Don't advertise any domains you had bought that you were advertising on your old account. I would even go as far as to get a new affilate id for any affiliate networks if you were direct linking because you have a unique link in the destination url that could be traced back.(but that's kind of up to you).

        Oh yeah almost forgot 866-246-6453

        Good Luck

P.S. Let us know how it goes...

I would try again. Call them and explain it was a honest error.

If you need to open up a new account use a different credit card.

I never seen this before, but thanks for pointing it out to us.

All you will need to do to get around this is create a new account.
This time be a bit more careful.

However, I would still chase Adwords and find out the exact reason for them banning you. If you do, please post it on here so none of us make the same mistake.

    Good Luck

You can call and talk with them but it likely will be fruitless.

I think the problem here is that you ignored their warnings. It's kind of a three strikes you're out thing. They'll warn you a couple of times but if you continue ignoring the TOS, that's when you get your account terminated.

I've had a couple of people call me about this in the last few years. I've tried to reinstate their account but to no avail. It's a life sentence. So the moral is not to ignored their warnings and do something about it immediately and don't do it again! It's not necessarily something to do with games and music downloads. Many TOS stipulations (excessive CAPITALIZATION for example) and if you keep doing it, they'll suspend you.

Your only recourse is try to open another account. However, since you are allowed only one account, you may not even be able to do that.

    Good luck.
