What is your current daily SEO routine?

Post Panda / Penguin and any other black and white creatures that come to mind, I am curious to know what people are doing each day and how they structure their time. Blog commenting, directories etc seem to be shot now so what are you all up to? Are you getting more social? I heard a facebook share now is equivalent to a backlink.

I like to work on different projects for a couple of weeks and then move onto another area of SEO as opposed to consistently doing the same stuff everyday.

I generally work on writing great content, doing research and guest posting (as well of course as posting in forums.)

I typically work on different stuff everyday as to not get stale. Social is definitely a much stronger indicator to the search engines now. If that's not on your list of to-do's you should seriously add it.

Check SERP rankings in the morning and after coming home from work is the only routine things I do. Everything else is as needed. ie. development, monitoring traffic, check the forums, etc.

I use Follow Link, I just add the link of my newly created content and it is exchanged. I consider it a valuable tool and when you add it is free, incredible.

You are linking from squidoo to your money site correct? Do you see a lot of benefit (in SERP improvement) doing this?

      thanks

A little over two months ago I created 10 new websites and I started using a variety of different SEO techniques for each website (all in low competition niches) as an experiment to see what works for me.

On one of my websites I was using Web 2.0 link building alone and several others a combination of Web 2.0/ High PR/ Low PR High Volume/ Social Bookmarking/ Wordpress Blogs etc etc.

I found the Web 2.0 links consistently showed very positive improvement in SERP alone and even better when used in combination with other techniques. The general results were not surprising but I was surprised in how well my Web 2.0 links only website climbed from outside 1000 to 130 in 4 weeks.

Social bookmarking still has weight, obviously not something you should focus all your time on but definitely something you should put a bit of work into. Stumbleupon in particular has gained me a lot of traffic in the past few weeks.

Why do people constantly think SEO revolves around 1 thing when success is determined by so many things. SEO is more like a puzzle rather then a picture, you need all the pieces to have success. It takes solid research, good writing skills, even better editing skills, then knowledge and a plan to get the word out to users to create that instant burst of traffic. Then it takes time, not just for your content but the niche community to trust you as a valued source of information.

Here is a good example of what I am talking about, I wrote something last Friday. Since this morning that content has been accessed from 27 different links and I didn't do much to make that happen. Now 27 doesn't seem like a large number but from that 27 the page has been accessed as the entry page over 1400 times since Friday. Can you live off this kind of traffic, perhaps but as I said this is a puzzle because at some point search traffic will kick in and give life to the page at a different level.

But if you think social bookmarking isn't effective anymore, go with it. I say that because there are so many different ways to generate traffic and find success for websites. There is no "One Way" or even the "Best Way".

I think the secret could actually be to add content to your own site with quality related keywords. Blog posts / Squidoo lenses / Hubs / Ezines posted linking to that content with all this content socially bookmarked on a few decent sites. But isn't this what we were always told to do in the first place?

Content + Design is king. You can have the best content on a crappy website and I would rather read the somewhat good content on the nice website.

      Content = Great
      Design = Great
Content + Design = Better Metrics

Content + Design + Better Metrics = How google ranks your site.

    My daily SEO routine? Simpe.
    - Forum posting
    - directory submission
    - social bookmarking
    - social networking
    - ad posting
    - competition links analysis
    - send out link exchange proposals
    - read a lot of SEO updates from sites such as SEOmoz.com
    - article submission
    - rss submission
    - social media discovery
    - keyword trend monitoring

You might say that's a lot for a daily SEO routine, but that's what I do and been doing it each and every day.

Not trying to pull a shameless plug here or anything but since I already have the link building aspect of my SEO totally solved I mostly focus on creating new sites and growing older ones.

I usually don't build authority sites since the SEO risk and time involved is too high. Most of my sites are less than 50 pages and do well in terms of earnings.

If any of them get slapped I can live with it that way.

My web 2.0 keyword domination day (My name for it) goes like this:

    - Wake up.
    - Decide on KW i want to dominate.
    - Create web 2.0 (Blogspot, wordpress)
    - Fire about 50 spun articles from a bunch of blog networks at it.
    - AMR sub.
    - SE Nuke sub.
    - Wiki bomber sub.
    - Bookmarking sub.
    - Update XR and SB to blast tons and tons of links to these pages.

Repeat the next day for next keyword.

I have over 100 page 1 rankings for competitive keywords (Product names/services etc).

Thats mine atm. Hope that helps. I am also working on some long term authority sites.

    Great question!

I start by checking contractors work on various projects (backlinks, G Local work, reviews, articles, etc.), assign new tasks as needed, meet with interns to train them on the next step in our process (if you don't have interns - shoot me a PM and I'll explain what your missing), give a soft "touch" to clients to keep them engaged, and then come here (and elsewhere) and try to learn as much as I can in the 2-3 hours I dedicate to fine tuning this craft. I run a brick and mortar business, but this has been my passion for some time.

My goal by the end of this month is to develop more of a system for my team to work on as we get new clients. I'm happy to share the development if anyone's interested. It's all about synergy.
