    All I have to say is consistency. If Google sees that you go from having 3 a day to 100 per day, something will seem wrong. So work your way up. Do about 3-4 a day then 5, then 6, and keep doing it until you feel comfortable at putting a certain limit on your site. Lot of people I know consistently put up to 30-40 per day. Hope this helps.

      I've never understood the logic behind this idea.

      If you're trying to 'look natural' why would a site get the exact number of links every day? That would never happen in real life. A site would get some here, some there...then maybe one day it's featured on MSNBC and it gets a bunch. The pattern wouldn't really be the same.

    It all depends on the links and where they come from. There are an infinite number of "backlinks numbers" added to sites every day. For some sites 5 new links is a big deal. Another may suddenly explode with a million links due to a news event. But not too many sites suddenly see 100 new profile links without something going on Google may not like.

    Tip: Lose the advertising in your posts and your forum account will live longer.

    well, you have 3 in this post alone... doesn't seem very natural to me.
    I don't understand how adding the same link in your post as in your footer is going to help you at all. Actually I think it may be against this forum's rules.

    But to answer your question, why not just get the links naturally by spending your time for link chasing by developing some link bait or putting up content people will want to link to? This just seems like a better investment than chasing down single links from blog comments or forum posts.

    It doesn't matter.

    Just try to be at least somewhat consistent. 10,000 backlinks on day 1 and 0 for the next month is going to look a little strange. Even sites that go viral will get a huge burst and trickle down a little bit each day.

    That said, quality over quantity. I'd rather have 10 PR1+ backlinks than 100 PR N/A backlinks.

    I would say build about 5 a day just to make sure that you are getting some. I woul think as long as it isn't in the 100's then you should be alright

    I use an old advice I got to try and get 2 new each day. 2x365 is 730 each year and that is only the one you create yourself. Once you get out there people will also start to link back you if your site has good quality. Don't forget about Social Media too.

    If the backlinks are of high quality and what Google is looking for then any # per day is fine. Just continue to build them forever so you never get beat out.

    This depends on a lot of things. As people have previously mentioned, consistency is key. Make a backlink calendar or something so you know how many backlinks you've created. Stick to that calendar and you'll be fine.

    Hint: Use branded anchor text, not your targeted keyword.

      You can still target your keywords as long as you don't go overboard.

    Bad question that will lead to trouble. If you can create links that appear natural and keep your entire backlink profile looking natural you can create as many links as you want without any risk at all whereas just a few really unnatural links can get you in trouble.
