Useful tool on SEOMOZ would be right for you to check backlinks and you can use google webmaster tools to check your own sites backlinks.

They are a lot of free backlink checker tools out there.. You just need to search for it on google..

There are many tools to check the backlinks of website but you can't get exact backlinks in that tools like backlinkwatch.com or domain-pop.com.

I think, Webmaster Tools is the best option for that because it's the place where you can get exact backlinks.

Well, when I check manually:

link:mysite.com

it doesn't give many result, just few.... while backlinkchecker.com shows 100s of links..... what is the difference?

If it is your website, the most reliable tool is your Google Webmaster tools account. You will see the list of indexed backlinks there.
