Loads of Backlinks

I have not been doing much SEO on our main site, its always been fine for our chosen keywords and we'll had enough business.
After our main working season (our business is mainly summer based) I have had time to look at the site and recently we have seen a major slip for our main keyword.
I have checked our backlinks and we now seem to have 68000+ backlinks all of a sudden, we have never created any backlinks or paid anyone to create us backlinks. 95% of these are for the keyword we are now not ranking well for. The site ranks well (first two pages on Google) for every other keyword
Should I remove the "bad" backlinks using the new disavow tool? and as as follow up should I remove the Follow and No Follow links.
