I am using "make money online" as an anchor text targeting my homepage when building backlinks. Do I need to build backlinks for my other pages? If yes, then should I continue building backlink with same keyword or another keyword. please give me a clear idea about this.

      NO!
You need to diverse your anchor text. Make it natural. "Click here", "Visit the site". "learn More" and so on.
Gotta make your anchor text look more natural. If you use the same anchor text you will get penalized.

If I use "click here" or "visit the site" as an anchor text then how can I rank for my particular keyword.

          Hi ranisaha,

Trust your instincts on this, you are right, you will not help your rankings by using irrelevant anchor text.

That was just bad advice that has been spread on the forum by the Cargo Cult SEO crowd.

Absolutely not, use other keywords that you use for your website, if not primary, then secondary, but don't use the same keyword.

It should be like 45% your primary keyword, 35% secondary keywords about 15% random unrelated like Click Here and then about 5% just the URL. BEcause when Backlinks are created naturaly, users don't use the same word for every backlink.

If you are making a content about making money online, make sure you are optimising your pages too with its OWN keywords. Like for example if you have a post in Make Money with Youtube, use the keyword "make money with youtube" for link building in that page. CLEAR?

    Regards,

    1. You should build backlinks to all your pages, except maybe your contact, terms, and privacy

    2. Your anchor text should be varied and not display any patterns whatsoever

    3. With "Make money online" you are fighting an uphill battle. You will be competing with guys who really know their stuff. Considering you are asking this very rudimentary level question I don't recommend getting your hopes up for ranking this keyword any time soon.

You don't need to change the anchor text for each page,
if that's what you want, and it fits the page.

People keep misquoting some nonsense about anchor
text diversity over and over...has nothing to do with
      anchor text diversity.

      But choose wisely.

I can't help but chuckle at the "make money online" example.
You should avoid crappy phrases like that. That is one spammed
to death phrase. I can chuckle even louder, because eventually
"click here" will end up in the same junk pile for the lot of you.

So Paul, what you're saying is in direct opposition to what Karlissen is saying...correct?

I agree with paulgl. Use the same anchor text if it fits to. But mostly each page of your website bears unique content or topic so in conclusion you will have different anchor text for each of your page.
