Advice on domains with keywords

Hello Warriors,

I have a website, let's call it "productX.com". I'd like it to rank well for key words "a b c" and "one two three". Recently it seems that Google has stopped ranking the site at all for any of the keywords. The only time the site comes up in search results is for "product X".

Here's my idea. The domains "a-b-c.com" and "one-two-three.com" are both available. My thinking is that once indexed, the chances of ranking high for the keywords is pretty good.

My question to you all is how best to execute this? Do I just point all 3 domains to the same site? Will Google consider this duplicate content? Should I point them all and then put canonical tags on the site saying it's "productX"?

Can anyone give any advice on the best practice for obtaining optimal results?

    The method you use to redirect (i.e. server configuration file, in-page code, etc) doesn’t matter as much as some other factors. Make sure you use a 301 permenant redirect as this will pass on the most link juice. It is also unwise to buy multiple new domains and redirect them all at once as this could send a red flag to search engines. If your webhost supports the use of .htaccess I would recommend using that.
