How to optimize newly published blog posts?

What I usually do is post the blog-post link to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Stumbleupon and Digg.
Is there any more effective way to do it.

PS: My blog still heavily relies on Google's organic traffic (upto 80%)

    Its good but not enough. Firstly note that posting your links on Facebook and Twitter is more useful for making traffic. You should post your blog posts to social bookmarks but its not enough. You should make backlinks from your blog too in addition to make backlinks for each of your posts. Also please note that new websites/blogs usually don't rank in top results even if you make tens of backlinks for each of your posts. After some weeks, if you continues, your ranking will be improved on Google too. So, don't worry and continue your work but don't concentrate only on some websites and some methods.

    I recommended that you make link wheels for your post. You can get good once on fiverr, instead of manually doing them yourself. And if you don't have anyone clicking on the links through social media, it's a waste of time. You should definitely build your social media up.

      Awful advice. Link wheels are pure spam.

      Build your overall site authority and your posts will rank page 1-2 for most medium difficult keywords instantly.

      I recommend becoming a google + author. It will give your blog posts more strength and put a face to each post.

        1. used a focus keyword appropriately in the post content?
        2. included keywords in the post titles?
        3. customized the post permalink?
        4. optimized images used in the post?
        5. added links to and from older posts?
        6. customized the SEO Meta Title?
        7. written a custom Meta Description?
        8. properly categorized and tagged your post with keywords?
        9. signed up for feedburner?
        10. promoted your post on social media?
