My site keeps going from #10 to #1 back to #10 why is this?

I wondering others opinion on this, I have been drip feeding bookmarks to my site using BMD and I have made alot of adjustments on page with my site. I was ranking #1 for about a month then I had a drop with the EMD update to number #10. Then for the last 2 weeks I have been making changes with keyword density and using BMD with drip feeding bookmarks. But twice now my site has shot up to number #1 then back to number #10 in the same hour.
Can this be interpreted as Google liking what I'm doing and I should continue since I'm not moving down but I'm moving up. I'm still wondering what is making it not stick at #1.
Any help would be appreciated.
