Trying my hand at some Facebook PPC...

I'll have to give the results a few days to play out...but I have a $50 budget each day for 3 days.

My site is brand new (my sig link points to it), so I am not getting any traffic elsewhere, and I'm sure Google will tell me my site is not "within their guidelines" or some crap like that if I tried to use Adwords.

Forgive me...but I am really just chalking this up to a learning experience...since I myself don't have a personal FB page...I'm just trying to learn how to build a relationship with some ppl on FB, help them, and hopefully convert them into buyers of my product.

Correct me if I'm wrong here....but if someone "likes" my page/post...they will get a notification on their FB page the next time I post something? Is that right?

Hi Matchoo77,

That was my initial interpretation, however I believe now that not everyone who likes your page will see your posts.

I think Facebook limit who actually sees your post, and the only way for them to see your posts guaranteed is to have them select the setting which basically subscribes them to every post from your page.

From personal experience, I have found that Facebook Advertising is no good for direct sales, but great for brand awareness.

  Are you using strictly PPC or are you going to try some CPM (cost per impression). As long as you target your niche it might benefit you to try CPM. I mean try a campaign out using CPM using the same $50. I will bet you get more clicks than PPC at a lower cost per click.
  
  You can also monetize with facebook, but the way you do it is have a fan page that has an opt-in form so that you provide something in your niche for free, when someone comes to your page and say hour niche is acne. You can say something like " To get the secrets of the stars for clear skin leave opt-in to my list and get free advice on how to finally get rid of those acne marks." Again just using this as an example. Then when you have people subscribe to your list via your fanapge so that they can get that free report or information on how to get clear skin. You can now keep them on your email list. You can always market to them.
  
  That is the real way to use facebook for monitization, but I have seem people be successful with facebook by doing CPA

Your page is definitely not following Adwords guidelines. It doesn't follow Bing's as well and likely not Facebook's too. A waste of money IMO no matter which network you use. I would change that page.

Ok so about 90 bucks spent so far, been paying about .35 a click...have 45 likes, no sales yet and a handful of opt ins. Only day 2.

A small percentage will see the next time you post something - it all has to do with facebooks EdgeRank and how active people are etc...

I wouldn't waste the money man - your page is not very good and at your CPC I am very doutful that you would ever come close to being profitable

I'm actually impressed you spent $90 using that ad (per your figures, at least 250 clicks) because I really don't know why people would click on it. Nothing there that really would attract anyone. My guess is volume: a high number of impressions. Not surprised at low opt-ins percentage as your landing page is worse than the ad. I think most clicks was mere curiosity at the weird ad, no real intent as you don't really say what you're selling.

People on facebook aren't exactly in "buyer mode" so all I am trying to do is get some interaction on my page. Optins would be nice but I didn't expect many.

paused campaign for a day or 2, getting better with this, and I figured out a demographic to target my ads to that should help get me closer to breakeven with this strategy...I looked at all my optins and 80% were from one location on the globe :-)

  Ok, making some real progress here, but hit another bump in the road: getting ppl to confirm their subscription! Out of 14 opt ins, only 4 confirmed their subscription.
