About Link Building to main domain and sub urls

Hi guys, i am lil bit confused some terms on link building. kindly have a look at a scenario like below.

lets say i have a domain like

www.mysite.com

and here is another sub url of that domain such as an article page

www.mysite.com/category/some-article-link

so when i focusing on off page seo is it ok only caring about the main domain or should i do additional link builings to sub urls too such as articles pages ?

looking forward to the details. this forum really helps me at all. thanx all

    Hi,

    You should build links to both

    Create inner pages with the intention of ranking them and then build links to all across the board.

    This will not only strengthen your root domain but also the inner pages

    Yes, definitely. But you should know to do keyword research first before building links to your homepage as well as your inner pages for better rankings.

    Inner pages are made for specific keywords you are going after. For example, the homepage is used to go after bigger, more difficult, and broad keywords like golf. However, the inner pages are used to go after keywords like golf courses in san diego..this is a really broad example but I hope it helps.
