Why Doesn't Google See My Own Backlinks?

Hello,

I manage several sites and even after 5-6 years, Google still doesn't see my own pages as backlinks pointing (self-backlinks from internal pages)... Maybe Google sees 10-20 links/pages from 300 pages....

Why?

Site has good PR, decent amount of visitors, Google doesn't seem to have penalized it... this was an issue for several years.

Additionally: Google only sees a small number of external backlinks...

Is Google just inefficient (to use a nicer term) or do I have to change something to make it see my backlinks? At least my own pages would be nice...

If they are links from your own sites and on the same servers, they won't count.

The above is not true. They still count links from your own sites/same server.
Google just never shows all the links. Doesn't matter if they're yours or someone elses.

You are right. Of course Google displays even own links... Just that it only seems to be able to see about 10 % of my own links and 5 % of inbound external links.

So when I type in "link:www.mysite.com", then Google sees:
      -10-20 pages of www.mysite.com/page1.htm, www.mysite.com/page2.htm etc.
(but my site has over 300 very good pages, even with decent PR)
-only a handful of inbound foreign links (5-10), but it should see 100-150 (including editorial links from About.com, but Wikipedia links as well and many other "do follow" backlinks)...

What could I do to make it see at least more even if not all?

Actually internal backlinking is a limited amount of links. So, it won't be counted if the limit exceeds.

Hey frnd pls check that your backlinks are add or not those site becoz some time admin remove our links.
And there are many other reason like:
    1. where is your link added that is not cache by google till now.
    2. Site used "No follow" link. etc

    Thanks

  • Shipwrecked,

Google states in their FAQ’s that not all links to your site will be shown in webmaster tools.

    Hope that helps,
