How many backlinks is safe per week ?

Suppose I just started a new website and I wanna build backlinks. So How many Backlinks would be good per week. I guess google won't like my site if I like immediately get 50 backlinks within a week, right ? So what you guys say ?

    You shouldn't have any reason to worry about the amount of backlinks your site has. If you're doing link exchanges try to do them with other sites that are in relatively the same niche as your own and also those that have more traffic than your own site and a decent PR. Google isn't going to extradite your site because of the amount of backlinks you have.

    Well if you are starting from ground zero 50 is not high in a day, however it would make sense to continue getting 50 links per day for a while, then increase to 70, 100, 150, etc...What Google does not like is when a company has 300,000 sites in their portfolio...and overnight a new site has 300,000 links with the anchor text Viagra.

      Correct. People worry too much about a handful of links while true link spammers like you described are really what Google is concerned about.

    I'd say a handful a day.... everyday. 5 per day.... is 35 per week.... which is about 150 per month. Make them relevant and from different sources.

    Google looks at the history data of sites within your niche and compares that to yours, so it's really hard to say what's safe and what isn't. Just follow a couple of basic rules and you'll be fine:

    Don't use automatic software
    Don't build too many too soon
    Make sure you deep link
    Do stay on topic

      How many is too many too soon? Whats the max limit of links per day you would suggest ?- even if an approx number per day/week ?
