Hi Guys.

Ive given up on "easy ways" and are now putting all of my efforts into a authority site with content that is unique, well written and useful to the readers. I have focused alot on videos to make the site more interesting and to hopefully get a visit or two from youtube;-) I am trying to make it go more viral and make users interact with me and the site.
So far I am quite pleased with the site. I have learned my lesson from the EMD algo and have made the site a brand name. The pages are not keyword stuffed but have a content kw density at around 1 to 3 % depending on how it makes the content look and read.
I have yet to build any backlinks to the site, and frankly, Google has got me spooked.. Im very uncertain on how I should go about it now.. I dont want to hurt the site so I am reluctant to post articles and make lenses/tumblr sites etc. I do have a few social bookmarks, FB fan page with a good user base, pinterest and twitter. But the heavy backlinking is where my uncertainty lies.. Should i just continue to ignore backlinking and focus on the site and the vids or could I actually gain something (else than penalty) from making a few web 2.0s and perhaps post a few articles.?? Thanks in advance.

Nowadays it's even more difficult to understand what our search engines really want. As far as this, you should look to linkbuilding to a not-alone method to gain authority, and instead focus your efforts onto creating a nice and SEO friendly website/blog, ask yourself these following questions:

Did I study some kind of SEO case studies?
Do I know exactly around what my website has to be built?
Do I know how to build backlinks based on what search engines want?

If you said no to them... this means that whatever you are doing, knowledge and study is power as it looks like you are still unsure about what your projects are.

Of course you build links to it...just do so sparingly...you don't have to crush it...

Do some blog commenting on some trusted pages...check out SEOQuake.

    Then do some article marketing...

SEO is all about consistency and quality...

Don't let Google spook you...they are all bark...

i don't why but everyone these days is complaining about google. due to their recent update! right?

focus on getting quality backlinks to your site only. only backlinks from sites that're related to yours.

Honestly, It became really hard to predict Google. The resuts are totally independant of the effort sometimes.. This just showing that still they are not perfect in judging sites..

Ok, Thanks for the suggestions folks!

Have been thinking of making just 2 or 3 web 2.0s that will leave a link or two to my site but I´ll make sure it is quality pages and wait for a while before giving them a few natural non achor kw.
also been looking into the suggestions from sourcewave seo but guess im still on the fence waiting for him to provide some more details on how to go our high pr "nukepages" as he calls them.

As a graduate of computer science I can tell you that anyone who thinks they've figured out the Google algorithms should just wait a minute.

Because the algorithms literally change daily now (lol) and you're fighting an uphill battle trying to game the system,.

BUT WAIT - I'm not suggesting, that you are trying to game the system.

The only thing I'm trying to suggest, is that it's better to focus on totally awesome content that people will share across their social media platforms, comment on, read, and ultimately help disseminate.

So, focus on totally kick ass content, and in all probability the Google gods will show favor.

    Hi henjon!

Backlinks placed on web 2.0 sites still play a major role in ranking. In fact, it holds the largest percentage when it comes to what you will prioritize. Given that you are already aware with the Penguin and EMD updates, just stay natural with your posts and keep the balance and diversity.

There are tools wherein you can regularly check your link diversity. If you want to rank, you have to syndicate articles and generate a lot of quality backlinks from web 2.0 sites. The spiderbots are still there to crawl your content so there is no reason not to do web 2.0n posting.

Good backlinks probably help, but I think the biggest thing right now is to focus on the social side of things.

In particular SOCIAL PROOF that can't be faked with a Fiverr gig.

I'm liking LinkedIn's ability to get social proof of your skills. I'm sure Google have noticed that these kinds of sites are where they should be looking in order to find the real experts in niches.

First of all, forget about keyword density and focus on writing good articles (as you are). In the content itself, use your main phrase in the first and last paragraphs, and maybe one header. That's all.

As for your lenses/tumblr sites, they surely can't hurt as long as you keep the content on there useful and readable. It can actually make a nice difference if you keep these types of sites updated with original content, so no worries there.

And for the heavy backlinking, that depends on a lot of things. Firstly, how old is your site? A brand new site with 1000's of links is suspicious, obviously.

How many videos do you have on YouTube? The more you have, the more the chances are that one might go viral, which will of course create mass backlinks on its own.

If you have many social networks pointing your way already, including a goof FB fanbase as you say, heavy backlinks can't hurt if you honestly know what you're doing, and your site's not TOO new.

Of course, there are many factors at play here and in the end it's all up to you.

    1. Build quality content.
    2. Build quality high pagerank links.
    3. DOMINATE. Simple as that mate. All the SCHEMES don't work. Just bite the bullet and buy quality backlinks after checking the backlink is quality (see my sig for a simple method to do so).
