How Are These Adsense Click Differences Day To Day Possible?

I know adwords is constantly changing day to day week to week in terms of how many people are bidding on keywords, what people are willing to pay, how many people want those keywords etc.

That said I'll occasionally notice something really wierd. For like a month or two straight I'll be getting like 40-50 clicks per day maybe making 0.10 to 0.15 cents per click. Then one day I'll only have like 2 clicks but my CPC is like $1.60.

It just seems odd to me that for months on end I can have 40-50 clicks per day and then all the sudden I only have 2 clicks.

Btw, I should add this is adwords on like 6 diff blogs so the click numbers are my total among them all

Is there any explaination for this?

Google adsense picks ads that are relevant to your content AND to the content "recently viewed" by your visitors. So if you normally get low paying clicks, it means that you are in a niche without many advertisers. If you get an occasional high paying click, that means the visitor clicked on an ad unrelated to your niche.

Ie. Your site is on the lowly "blue widgets,: but a visitor to your blog was recently searching for student loans. Therefore adsense displays an advertisement to student loans on your site. The visitor clicks the student loan ad, and you get a higher than normal CPC.

    Hope that clears it up!
