I know Google takes 70% of the search market but surely Bing must still be important?

For Google searches, my keywords are always on the first few results, with bing im lucky if i find them at all.

Does anyone use any different strategies for bing or is best to not worry about it?

  • Great question sb4f,

Its so easy to only think about Google when optimizing for search and for the most part it is undeniable that they are a major force in search. That being said, they are a leader and I think that many other engines follow Google’s lead when it comes to the way it ranks web pages. So things that work for Google will most likely translate to other engines as well. You can always set up an account and submit your site to Bing webmaster tools to see how you are stacking up with that particular area.

    Bing - Webmaster Tools

    Hope that helps,

You should not worry about bing traffic if you have lots and lots of pages and have really high traffic as i am not getting much from bing some says that bing market share is growing but still it's far below google and also bing indexes much slower as compared to google so even if you have lots of pages it will take much time for bing to index them all.

Ranking on bing is seems to be confusing to me i think getting links from those who are ranking well on bing can do some magic.

That's certainly a tough question, as you can easily get ranked on Google but Bing take lot of time. And I'm sure there would be some different strategy to rank on Bing but we can only find it when we give more attention to bing.

Most people look for Google and don't even consider going for BinG. It's good if you have a Bing webmaster too. Also try to rank some of your important keywords in Bing too. Ranking on Bing will also help you a lot.
