Tag Clouds For SEO

HI WF Family,

Does anyone know if tag clouds hold any SEO value? I want to make sure it doesn't make my sites appear to have lots of duplicate content. Any ideas? Pleas advise.

    I was told you shouldn't use tag clouds because they're site wide and if they're "dofollow" you could be losing a small amount of Page Rank.

    I was "told" that I'd get a panda penalty for dupe content for using tags. That didn't happen. I don't know what the current "stance" on it is - and quite frankly, I don't care.

    Tag clouds are a basic feature on most blogs these days, and a number of websites are using them as well. Although they sometimes look clunky, tag clouds can be a great way to further optimise your web pages.

    They have no importance if you thin k SEO wise. You can use it to make your site a bit attractive but wont help you with SEO.

    Personally I don't think that tag clouds add any SEO advantage, not sure whether they can contribute to a penalty or not, but visually they look ugly, unappealing and don't have much value to most readers/viewers so I don't use them.

    Actually I am not sure about it, but I have some assumption for it. Today it is really very common for the new template of all blogs to use cloud formed tags. I suggest not to use it. It hampers the decoration of a website. Whatever you tag design system SEO carries same values for your website.

    Most of the wordpress uses cloud tags and they have good ranking as well, you can use cloud tags but use it to stricted numbers

      99% of the people here have no idea what a tag cloud is,
      judging by the responses.

      Make your site more attractive?!?!?!
      SEO?!?!?!?
      Duplicate content?!?!?!?
      "Dofollow"?!?!?!?!

      Tag clouds are for internal filing. They are as helpful
      as meta keywords. Translation: Useless for SEO, may be
      helpful for a visitor.

      I dunno people. Maybe some of you are actually living in
      that cave with the old man.
