Most of Amazon pages are product pages with only short descriptions that're not well optimized.

If you do your SEO Well, you'll really outrank such pages

Get a few High PR anchor links from pages that have good moz page authority and you'll see your site jumping above competitors.

It's not impossible. Try building quality backlinks directly to those pages that you want to rank high.
