I've been doing IM for a while now but this is something that is new to me.

I've been reading up on the forums and have seen these terms thrown out there.

I am assuming they are robots that check for uniqueness?

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, thanks!

They were just updates to Google's algorithms

Some were spam updates and others were just quality updates.

If you use the search function you'll find thousands of threads on them

Here's a BASIC synopsis:

Panda - wanted to make sure your content was good. (Not automated/spammy)

Penguin - wanted to make sure your backlinking was good. (Not automated/spammy)
