Actually for youtube one of the most important factors is the on-page seo, which means that you should use your main keyword in the title (many say that adding the word "video" in the title helps) , you should add a description and use multiple times your main keywords with variations, add relevant tags etc.

Additionally one think that works really well for me is to make video responces with my own video to relevant videos that get many views. This will not only help your seo efforts, it will also help getting more views from these videos.

This is totally correct. Optimizing a YouTube video is more or less about on-page than building links. Use keywords in Title, description, tags etc.

Well just do whatever you would do to get links for any other page, plus it depends on what is the video about, if it's something informational and well edited I would embed it to my guest posts and it would certainly rank pretty well after a few posts, however if it's a plain advertisement, I guess social bookmarking and blog commenting (if it deserves the effort)...

Here is what i do for youtube videos, ive ranked for 100k+ month terms within weeks:

- Upload video (Filesname: your-keyword-here.wmv)
- KW in title (Also add CTA like [MUST WATCH] or something like that)
- Tags (4-6 works best, use "your keyword here").
- Comment on 10 or so existing related youtube videos.
- Write 300 word+ article and put in description. Use keyword sparingly.
- Add annotation (Ask for subscribers/likes - helps video rank).

Build backlinks

I use:

- Se nuke backlinks (All of them).
- Blog network backlinks. (Article ranks, UAW, Traffic Kaboom)
- Optional lower tier (Auto comments/XR profiles).

Also, make your video actually decent, then you will get lots of likes/subscribers, which will help you rank better as well.

What kind of senuke scheme do you use?Some of them are slapped by the Penguin, aren't they?

About these blog networks.These days Google penalize for them.Which of them did you use?How many posts?

Can you show me any video that has been ranked with these techniques?

I too have noted that youtube description helps my videos to rank higher in google. The longer the description the better, taking into account the keywords you are targeting ofcourse.

Get your " Video Title optimized " Video Description Optimized according to relevant keywords, and then slowly build relevant links to direct your content readers to your video.

Best practice is to make useful articles, blogs write ups, forum participation and sharing with friends and family and many more. All I mean is that you carry on sharing your youtube links with relevant topic.

i.e. if my video is about making chicken curry then surely, I do go to a forum where people do share there recipes and I will post my way of cooking traditional Indian chicken curry and then view my video and learn how to make traditional chicken curry in 10 minutes. Then you can write about it and keep it in various social network site, and many more but content should be unique and not duplicate ...etc....

So, you get the point. But make sure before you leave a link, you atleast have some friends in the forum whom you know and participate with.

I think you social bookmarking works best for me in ranking my youtube video. though i sometimes outsource it in order to achieve different IP bookmarking.
