Deleting used/old coupon code Blog posts?

Would it be best practice to delete old blog posts that have codes that are time sensitive?

I'm thinking of leaving the posts up that received social signals and backlinks and deleting the ones that have nothing pointing to them.

Would that be an effective strategy?

If it was me, I'd do a 301 (permanent) redirect - you can do that with plugins like Yoast's Wordpress SEO.

I wouldn't delete them, especially if you had any type of interaction with them. I agree with the redirect or just leave them alone.

Leaving the old coupon page intact could actually be helpful to traffic If you update the page & show that the coupon has expired, then show the latest coupon that's still active. This way traffic isn't stuck trying to use an expired coupon code, & you get the added benefit of a relevant page to use for internal links (SEO).

Go look at how retailmenot runs their coupon pages.
