Is google targeting wordpress sites now?

My site stylishblinds ranked top in my country and and 8th worldwide. I left IM for sometimes and now it has completely lost its ranking. No matter what I do it doesn't rank well.
Is it happening only with wordpress based sites? because it seems all of my wordpress based sites lost ranking.

Wordpress sites are stupidly slow to load and speed has become a major factor in search rankings.
This may be one of the reasons

Ridiculous. WordPress is global, and WordPress is actually extremely quick to load with caching plugins & a decent host. Site's load slow when their on run down shared hosting packages.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

Anything is fast with caching and a decent host, thats the sense of that combo.

The question is, why you should need that for a CMS, which is doing such trivial things as showing some articles out of a sql table.

I have an own framework which i use for wordpress like sites outspeeding wordpress by factor 10 and more - which is easy to do for any average programmer.

The underlying code is not pretty but I have found Adobe muse easier to get what I want done than wordpress and no coding is required. I am becoming tired of bloated CMS myself . Really people have lost site of why CMS were invented. They were for sites with a lot of content but now you see people struggling to usesome wordpress theme for a one page saleletter site which is just crazy.

If your site is 'slow to load' then you haven't done anything to 'speed it up'.

How about installing a caching plugin?

      Hmm?

You can do lots of stuff to improve your websites. Especially on Wordpress

Did you ever stop and think that maybe "Pakistan" and "spamming" were

MagicSubmitter is not a product of Pakistan Paul :p. I agree that spamming may hurt your ranking but "Pakistan" can't . I also belong to Pakistan and have never spamed any forum.

Now coming to the topic, how WordPress can decrease your ranking where even a VERY BASIC webmaster can do a good SEO using plugins with WordPress. OP, you must have seen a beautiful dream, because your site is ranked at 9,574,817 and its PR is 2... How can you say this stupid statement that you topped in Pakistan? I monitor the local rankings always and seeing your blog with "misspelled" title for the first time

You even don't know the keywords for which my site topped and I used the past tense which definitely mean that it topped. I clearly mentioned that site which "RANKED", not rank, earlier have lost ranking now. How long have you been doing SEO by the way?

What keywords are you trying to rank for?

Are you aware that 'Stylish Blinds' is currently mis-spelled in your title bar?

That's just the way Google works -- it is constantly updating and changing.
I had a Wordpress website that was page 1 on google, and I left for a month to vacation. I came back and it fell off the face of the world.

I think this is a good thing, google is constantly updating and having mainstream content for their top ranked sites. No offense to you or me, but Google wants new content!

FWIW, Google seems to have lost their way with relevance in the last 18 months or so. It seems its getting harder and harder to find useful results on google, and I've actually started using bing as my default search engine. Not because I hate google (I do), but because it just works better. gasp.

I have noticed that too, a good example is if you are searching for some tutorial stuff or a tweak for Word Press.

I often see some result that is years old - not much relevant if you want a tweak for the newest version of your software.

You can adjust the search results all the way down to todays date, so it's not that Google isn't returning the latest site/blog post by date, you just didn't use the available date/time filter when searching.

Yep, I know :-) I just refer to general settings. Before I get more up to date results without adjusting settings.

It could just be that since uv left it for awhile other people have been doing more seo than you and constantly putting out new content. we all know google loves new content. if you have been number 1 for your keyword before it shouldnt take long for you to get back up there doing abit more SEO on your website

Both my sites are doing just fine and they're both wordpress. Then I have a 3rd wordpress site that is 6 weeks old, and just begining to climb up the ranks. So I doubt that WP has anything to do with it.

Search engines are smarter than you. It would be a good idea to change your blog's title "Stylish Binds" to its native name "Stylish Blinds" as your domain name implies.

It's something i've wondered about. Does Google prefer custom built sites, or custom made wordpress themes opposed to standard themes? I think it's possible. But WordPress is the best platform to build a site on.

Makes as much sense as your other comment that WP is "stupidly slow". Why would Google have a preference of one way a site is built over another?

I am quite sure that Google would not target a specific platform as Word press.

A scenario could be a popular theme, that somehow violate Google´s TOS (bad on page SEO), and sites build on the same theme with those errors, might leave a footprint.

If a site loads fast, has great content and does not use crappy back links, there should be no reason whatsoever to decide a site.

Wordpress is still SEO friendly but it depends on the theme too!

If you are working on your site developing content, building links and you stopped working (as you mentioned) then ranking would drop.

Wordpress is possibly one of the most stable platforms there is and Google will be unlikely hit a platform, don't speculate things like this.

And do you know: CNN, MSNBC, MarketersMedia, CBS Group, Time Inc, BBC, HowStuffWorks, NBC, TED, TechCrunch, DowJones, UPS, SEOPressor and many global brands are all hosted on Wordpress.
