Google Being Nice To Me or Am I dreaming.

In the last few days all of a sudden one of my websites which was barely getting any traffic at all, started ranking for keywords and articles I have been writing. Almost all of the articles were no where to be found and now many are ranking in the top 5.

I started this website back in October and wasn't getting hardly any traffic, pretty frustrating and now I am getting a good mix of referral, search and direct.

Anyone experience any positive uptick in the last 2 days? I am just wondering if maybe Google changed something that benefited me. Almost all the articles I write are unique content with a good mix of both internal and external links.

    This is normal activity

I suspect they are testing sites to see how they behave with visitors coming to them

since one of the ranking factors recently is clicks and visitor behavior

That will sink your battleship the first time you ever experience personalized SERPs while learning SEO.

I always use CCleaner + Chrome Incognito (obviously not logged into anything).

Yukon, the OP clearly states he has been getting increased traffic levels so I doubt it's merely beacuse of personalised results if at all.

Haha. Definitely. Such a sinking feeling once you realize that you're logged in and getting personalized results.

Also check you backlinks. Maybe you've got some big natural ones.

It could be that some of those articles you wrote back in October are starting to gain some traction. Check out your analytics--what pages are your visitors coming to? What keywords are they using to find your site? You could also check out the search volume for some of your bigger keywords. If your keywords are "in season" and more people are searching it would make sense that you're seeing more traffic.

You can always dig into your analytics to see why things improved. Study your pages to see why Google likes them so much. I'm sure there's an explanation!

Wouldn't we all love to have this happen to us?

In Bing/Yahoo Most of my articles ranked in the top 1-3 position almost immediately. On Google they were no where to be found. I have been using Google+ a lot and seem like I am getting good referral traffic from there. I also use Facebook and Pinterest a lot.

Here is what I have been doing.
Use Google and Bing Webmaster Tools to optimize the site
Write the article and use Easy WP SEO and Wordpress SEO to optimize the article for whatever keyword I want ranked.
Use Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Delicious and Pinterest to backlink
    That is basically it.

I typically use Safari or Chrome to check search results and use Firefox to log in to Google products like my GMail.

Most of my articles are on low hanging fruit key words. It just seem weird, that every single article is now ranking really high when last week they weren't drawing in any traffic at all.

I use Analytics every day and that is how I first saw something had changed. It was sort of annoying that articles that were ranking that shouldn't have ranked very high were a head of mine. Some only had a sentence or two in the actual article.

I find that Bing/Yahoo seem to actually rank articles better. Google seems to play many more games with ranking.
