Do you know the answer to this ON Page question?

As you can see from the links below, I have an intro box on every page of my site with some keywords I wish to rank for in it. When a user joins up or logs in, they no longer see the box.

For each of my discussions pages (2nd link below) I want to have the best possible chance of ranking for the discussion titles. Sould I therefore drop the welcome box from these pages or does it not matter? Will google see past the welcome box text and read the article body anyway?

Any other onpage I am missing would be much appreciated.

    I would remove the <h1> tag from the word Guest & change the Recent Posts <h2> to an <h3> then resize the text with CSS. Also remove the <h3> tags from all those replied words on the page.

    Thanks Yukon. How about the welcome box? Google is reading this as the first text on every page. Is this harming my ranking for those pages?

      Earlier I only looked at the 1 cache page (link I posted above). Now I see you have the same exact text at the top of every page. If you really need that text at the top of every page you might consider loading the text at the bottom of the page then use absolute CSS positioning to push the text back to the top of the page for traffic, or leave the text in it's current position & use javascript for the message/text.

      The Google Cache text version is very useful for knowing how Google looks at your web page, the text version of the cache removes all the clutter so it's easier on the eyes to see what's going on for on-page SEO.

      Here's a plugin for Firefox that will let you simulate a Google cache text version by turning off images & javascript on a web page, the page doesn't have to be live for simulating the text cache.

          It is identical text, it's loading on all the pages I looked at. That's not necessarily going to keep you from ranking by having a small snippet of duplicate text (welcome message) but something like that welcome message would usually be in a sidebar or at the very least I wouldn't want that to be the first thing loading on all my pages. It's a better idea to load that duplicate text towards the bottom of the page & try to get unique text (per page) loading at the top of the page.

          Keep in mind that you can code the page to position the text wherever you want for traffic & still load the code lower down the page so the duplicate text isn't the first thing Google will see when they crawl all your pages.
