what is Link diversification?

Hi,
I have read in a thread that "Link Diversification" is important for SEO now a days, can anybody here tell me what "Link diversification" exactly is? i have search the web about and now that this is some thing about "Google Panda" but not get details that satisfy me.

    Diversification - The act of introducing variety.

    Mixture of high PR's, low PR's, high traffic, low traffic, varying niche's which are still along the same lines as your main niche.

    Then you can diversify them via blogs, forums, rss, commenting etc etc. Just don't put all your eggs in the one basket in terms of your strategy - have a very varied one which covers most bases of the internet.

    You have a new site and you get links like this:
    1 - 10,000 forum profile links
    2 - 5,000 web2.0 properties

    = BAD - No diversity - Google will probably slap your site down to page 1000 of the SERPS and not let it back.

    You have a new site and you get links like this:
    1 - Manually post useful comments on relevant blogs x100
    2 - Regular press releases to free press sites x1000
    3 - Relevant web 2.0 poperties x 5
    4 - You site has a social sharing plugin so you also have
    a) 100 Google +
    b) 300 Facebook shares
    c) 200 Twitter tweets
    d) 50 Pinterest Pins
    5 - Your site rss is shared with rss feed directories
    6 - You have 10,000 links from your sig in the WF from helpful posts with your fellow warriors

    = All good. Nice diversity - everyone is happy.

      Andy has explained it very nicely here. This is exactly what Link Diversification is. Also it is important to get those links from quality and relevant sites.
