With continuous updates from Google it can be hard pinpointing an exact cause for a rankings change, and sometimes ranking spike up or down for a few days and then go back to where they were. In a few days, if it turns out there was a Panda / Penguin / EMD update today, that will at least help you know what the problem is.

Google updates everyday. Sites drop and rise every minute.

"A lot of companies effected...." is just a line of BS.

Real companies, with track records, authority, etc., are
rarely affected. As soon as you see wikipedia always on
      page #3, let me know.

People that have sites online that exist for no reason other
than to monetize them by getting free traffic from google,
      should be google-updated into oblivion.

Paul, you are correct generally speaking, but I think that today there has been a pretty big update and i've especially noticed this in the UK and one of my sites inlcuded in that (it's gone up a lot and no idea why lol).

I've noticed a number of pretty strong sites in one of my site's niches vanish into oblivion today in the UK results. Not too sure if it's just a UK thing or global of course.

I've seen huge ranking changes in the right direction for one of my Uk sites today.
Totally unexpected but i'll take it for as long as it lasts.
A number of other people have reported big ranking changes today so i'm pretty sure there was an update from Google today in some way.

Without even looking at it in any detail the homepage has barely any content on it so that's immediately something you should look at doing straight away. It needs to have more meat on it, like explaing what your site is about, what you offer etc. It doesn't need to be over the top but it's an important place to start.

It has got content, but I am told its too much, I dont really want to be changing content just yet, as I want to see what will happen. But thanks Joel

No the inner pages have plenty content but not the homepage, it's very bare content wise so could do with some more there. It's your call anyway of course.

If it's not a blog, it would be really hard... You just have to add new content, this is the ONLY way to help your website get a better ranking after google update! You just have to find a way to do this!

I believe (think, guess, don't know for sure...) there may have been some recent Google update. I'm tracking several keywords on several sites. Two sites, which haven't been worked on (SEO-wise) in the last 10 days both had many keywords drop hundreds of places - from, for example, Google first page to Google page 20 or 30. All at the same time (yesterday). Yes, rankings are continually and continuously changing all the time. But not like this. I saw the same situation about 4 to 6 months ago (can't remember exactly) and, after 3 to 5 days, all the keywords bounced back up to where they started.

I think (am guessing) that this is just some adjustment due to some Google update. Keep in mind that Google doesn't "process" a billion web pages all at once. Things take time and a lot can happen (up or down) in rankings before things settle in.

Slowly and steadily keep building up your tier links. You'll rise again, just keep doing what works.

Good links, and good onsite content.

Definitely an update. Several of my customer websites that have been on page one for several keywords have ether dropped to pages 3-5 or completely dropped off. These are original content websites and with lots of new content. Hopefully they will bounce back up soon.

I see. Have you viewed my thread about the blogroll web 2.0 links?

Anyone else who has been hit with this algo update could you please tell us if you were using web 2.0 also? Maybe this update was to kill off the web 2.0 SEO strategies.

I have yes. I used the likes of Wordpress, Squidoo, Blogger, Hub Pages etc. But I have another site that I used the same method on and that appears to be fine

The web 2.0 I used was Wordpress. Can you think of anything different you did between the site that lost ranking and the one that stayed the same with the 2.0 linking? Were they sitewide or in the content of a single page or multiple pages? etc etc.

The web 2.0 were built for a single page the index. I did not do anything different in terms of who I done the web 2.0

Better use some manual white hat backlinks from high PR websites. This would help. If you need any help in finding right vendor, pm me. I will refer my trusted vendor to you.
It doesn't really help to simply paste a sales pitch in multiple threads (see http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...-dropping.html).
