Need a Private Blog Network

I like having as much control as possible over my SEO activities. So I would be more inclined to build my own network and it's fairly easy to do so (I hear).

I have no idea why anyone would use a public blog network. That is just asking to have your site slapped.

A private network is a much better way to go if you know what you are doing and have at least a few thousand dollars to throw into it to get started.

How about building a blog network using Web 2.0 properties? You don't need to invest in domains or SEO hosting. Also they are high PR.

About a year ago I joined a private blog network and was shocked at the unreadable re-spun rubbish that was being posted alongside my posts. I'm not sure if that would do me any favors. So I started using Web 2.0, which I think has more credibility and is cheaper.

If you had 10 network sites all hosted on a different host at $5 to $10 per mo, then your overhead is = $50 to $100 per month. Sounds affordable to me even if you double the numbers.

It seems to me that the larger barrier to entry is the acquisition costs of high PR network domains with strong backlink profiles. You will have to compete in auctions for the domains. 10 sites at $200 to $500 + dollars each adds up. Then there's the matter of registration fees, transfer fees, privacy fees and whatnot and you have a real business on your hands to manage. As with any business, the more knowledge and skills you acquire, the more ways you can find to lower your costs.

There are also some renewal fees for the domains and privacy that need to be covered from time to time depending on the length of terms you choose for each domain.

All in all, the aquisition costs for 10 quality domains might be about the same as buying a halfway decent used car depending on your definition of halfway decent.

You could look at your top competitors backlink profile and see how many quality high PR backlinks from unique domains they are sporting. Can you do that too? better than that? Can you afford it?

If you think you have a shot at competing, you could always start with a few domains and go from there. Maybe buy three solid domains, build them out, add links to your money sites and sit patiently for a bit. Have a look at your progress, decide your next move.

There are many people selling ebooks about how to setup a private blog network.

For example Mike Anthony or you can also join the FullcontrolSEO forum for a small fee and learn from there or just browse the forum a lot and use the search function, there is plenty of information available for free here.

I suggest you build you own little network and:

1. Don't interlink the blogs
2. Install different themes and plugins if you can (assuming Wordpress sites)
3. Put unique content and images on each blog, not just scraped and spun content.
4. Build a few links into each site using decent blog comments from strong PR pages.

Developing a handful of web 2.0 properties with some decent, unique, and relevant content and blasting these with automated 2nd tier and social bookmarking links has worked well for a lot of folks lately, pretty inexpensive too.

All I know is that the ONLY people I'll talk to about private networks are Mike Friedman and Mike Anthony.

If you have the budged, then go and create your own quality network. If you don't have budget, don't go with public networks because they won't help long-term, they will just mark your site as a target to slap in Google's eyes.

Id say join a private network that is indeed private and not heavily advertised. I am part of a network and I have seen great results, Ive been with them for about two years and not a single website has ever been deindexed. Thats tough with Googles notoroius crackdowns these days.

However its totally private and only on a referral basis, try and find something like that if you can. It does take a bit of looking but well worth it in the long run.

You can setup your own private blog network pretty easily once you know how it is done. In addition, if you want to add web 2.0s to your network for diversity, you can use scrape box to find abandoned Tumblr blogs with PR (pretty easy to find PR 3s and 4s).

Seriously, it takes work, and cash...I'm building at the speed of light, it's great fun, it works brilliantly, providing you get it right. And in this area of "work"/SEO, there are about a hundred ways to fall flat on your ass. Read first, get to understand everything, then do it. Or find someone nice enough to let you join there's (after signing an NDA, going through airport-style ID checks and basically swearing to secrecy ).

I have quite a few websites, though they are not related to each other niche-wise. So, can I use these to create my own private blog network? Can I just, for example, post articles on 'movies' on a blog about 'eye-glasses'? Will that be relevant?

I am with the idea of creating your own blog network instead of joining other network to avoid any possible detection by Google. Use web 2.0 platforms to aid your private network and never disclose it to anyone.

Yea, we should pick different hosting with different class C IP address. If you host all the blogs on a private network in same hosting place, Google will find it easily.

If you actually build up your network of sites the right way I take it they should then produce their own leads and traffic so how do you monetize your blog networks and avoid leaving any footprints?
