Hi Everyone,

I am totally confused on this situation, I have been doing some SEO on my site and I managed to get some good ranking for competitive keywords but I utilized High PR Sites to do it...

My Million Dollar Question is how come my Google WM tools states a totally different result of number of baclinks then majestic backlink tools.

The number is totally off by hundreds, also I done some testing and buying bulk backlinks for low PR sites will drop you in rankings ... anyone else notice that?

Sites like Flippa use Majestic but in actually they should use GWMT..

Please enlighten me...

Cheers,

Google WM Tools show those backlinks which has been indexed against your website/keywords..... :-)

and Majestic got its own crawllers who crawl right away when you search for any website's backlinks history..... So wait until Google index those pages....

You'll need to wait until Google indexes the backlinks. Did you ping them?

yes, I have been pinging them... "In Bulk" even with a keyword module as well... I noticed not one single backlink showed up in majestic..

I guess challanger is right I might have to wait till Majestic crawls them but its been weeks. not one single one?

I also noticed that niche words that are on my site were indexed better then what I was working for... very strange, I rarely linked the keywords I am high ranking for... could be low competition... This SEO biz.. is a mystery with google sometimes..

Don't worry about what backlinks show up where. It'll drive you crazy. Every backlinks reporting service will likely display different results. If you're getting good results, just keep doing what you're doing. Focus on what you can control (getting good backlinks) and not what you can't (getting those links showing up in meaningless reports).

I would say you should Trust Google WM tools. Also it takes some time for the backlinks to show up. You could wait for a while and then check.

    Cheers,
That's because most of the people who buy sites from Flippa have no clue about this stuff and they can be convinced with really weak data or completely irrelevant stats.

Most backlink checking tools suck and won't show many of your links.

Don't waste your time with them - if it shows up in GWMT then you know Google know about it - whether other tools do or not is irrelevant.

It's the result (traffic, improved rankings etc.) that you should pay attention to - not what some tool tells you.

If you're buying a site - then ask to see the GWMT link data - it's exportable so any genuine site shouldn't have a problem with that.

If they don't use GWMT then they either don't know what they're doing - or they purposely avoided it because they're scared it will inform Google about their spam links. I've seen several SEO services which specifically tell you not to put your site in WM tools because they know it'll show up their bad links and help get you penalised quicker than just waiting for Google to notice on their own.

Which has always made absolutely no sense to me. Google notices the links at the same time, whether the site is using WMT or not. Only difference is that if you are using WMT, you will get a message so you know why your site got blasted in the rankings. Without it, you are just left to guess.

I think it's another one of those things where people using spammy techniques got penalised and then decided it's because they had a WMT account and then went around telling everyone not to get one or you'll get problems.

You know how these things are. There are so many "seo" tools being sold that will harm a business at some point that there's a massive amount of misinformation pushed out so that unsuspecting noobies can't tell the crap from the good stuff and end up going to the cheapest provider that has a convincing sales page. I can't believe the number of people still selling .edu links and promoting them as special links which Google gives preference to - but hey you can't stop people wasting their money and hurting their business if they're more focused on money than sustainability.

Yeah, I agree. I just cannot believe people are not smart enough to put it together. You want Google to know about your backlinks so that you get a better ranking. But then you don't want to install WMT because somehow that tells them more about your backlinks.

Truth is, Google knows all they need to know to rank, deindex, or penalize your site whether you use WMT or not.

I'm with you in regards to the EDU links. I think anyone selling them should be shot in the kneecaps.

Same goes for some people running Adsense, they're paranoid about Google Analytics. I'm sure Adsense tracks more than we see in Analytics (IPs, etc...).

You need to get one thing right i.e. Google will never webmaster to build backlink instead they will suggest to maintain high quality content and 'acquire backlink'. Now that is a paradox to me.

From the last Panda update on Jan 2013, its quite that webmasters who only concentrated on quality content also got hit. So I don't believe all what Google says, I believe on the real time results.
