Be Careful

A friend who hangs out mainly on Wicked Fire just had 60 high PR blogs de-indexed - which cost $10,000's to buy. Most of the blogs were aged PR 5's and up. He never used spun content and every post had unique content with decent formatting and images. As far as I know there was no obvious footprint and his only weakness was to occasionally publish paid posts.

It looks like one client did blast a few posts with crap - presumably to increase the juice passed. Withholding link reports doesn't solve things either - people can see the new links quite easily in GWMT.

I've heard a few people say i'm not big enough to be on Google's radar.

Think again.

I just made a decision never ever to but any links from a forum BST section. For all I know Google's search quality team keep a close watch what's being discussed on SEO / IM forums.

    The link blast was not the problem. There may very well have been no common footprint as well, other than I bet they were all on Wordpress.

    No. The real problem is that he was making his network public by selling links on it. The moment someone does that, it really is not a matter of whether or not the sites will be de-indexed. It is just a matter of when they will be de-indexed.

    One of the clients could have a site that gets caught up in some other spam filter that triggers a manual review of links. A Google employee could simply sign up for the service and grab all the sites that way. There are a number of ways the network could fall, but it definitely will fall.

    I'd bet with that small of a network he was putting links to every new customer on each site too, which just ties them all together in one big bow for Google.

    This is the big risk of investing too much money in 'High PR' domains. Now your friend has a portfolio of completely worthless domain he invested righteous cash in.

    This is an expensive lesson for him but one he'll learn.

    I think people should really avoid google and instead use other sources to for Traffic. Google is too unpredictable with a lot of algo changes.

      Working with Google will unavoidably involve tons of sweat and tears, but in the end, when you have a steady flow of free, targeted traffic you'll be very glad you remained persistent. Just my 2 cents.

    And I assume all of your friend's post had a link? On my net, I post 1 link article on every 3-4 unique high quality posts. No problem at all since some of them are news sites where dupe content and links are natural. Niche news!

    yeah dude it sounds like there were too many spam links to his blogs, aged or not, google is constantly looking to make the user experience better for searchers. I have a buddy that works at the big G and people it's really simple man...

    ....just create quality content and don't try and game the system, yet folks still do this thinking that oh..if I just get more backlinks to my site, or if I just have this extra content spun and placed all over the place or this or that. When instead if they would just focus on creating good content that is relevant (this is key) then they would never have any issues.
