aged Domain and PR ( compared to EMD)

Hello everybody,

I am trying to optimize for very competitive keywords such as "payment gateway" I just got and learned how to use market samurai. I see this keyword is very competitive but not impossible. The one thing I cannot really compete with is the age of domains since some of the competition has domains that are 10 plus years old. Now I just got the domain Online Payment Gateway - Account | Credit Card | Services - Providers and that is also one of my keywords. But I have read that this doesn't matter anymore to have an emd. So my question is if I but a random aged domain with a high pr from the site http://www.yourmaindomain.com/. is this actually going to help me rank higher?

I can buy a pr4 domain that is 10+ years old for like under $400. The domain name will have nothing to do with my keywords but since with the new google update it doesn't matter to have a emd I figured I mine as well buy an aged domain with a PR of at least 3 so I am on the same playing field with the other competitors who have domains that are 10+ years..

What are your thoughts on this? it seems almost silly that google wouldn't recognize this as some black hate technique and before I did this I wanted to get some feedback.

I have a good strategy in place to start to rank for these keywords and not really expecting any results for about 12 months. but I wandered if it makes sense to buy an aged domain so I can at least check of the boxes for PR and age of domain.

Thank you all...

      Dear tokigami1,

I am doing SEO also for an web design company, the domain is some 10 years old, PR 5, initially it was'nt optimized but, I started to optimize it for few competitive keywords and in a 2 months time results were outstanding.

Please note there was no match of any keyword in my domain name.

But yes, my site is featured on many good websites.

So, the conclusion is, domain age & PR matters to some extent.

If you get a chance as a backup buy a little good PR & aged domain & simultaneously optimize them.

I also advise you to optimize your emd domain since after seeing latest Google algo update, emd domains are benefited.

      eg:
on Google search for keyword "Gabions" you will find few emd on top.

    Aged domain > EMD

Especially after the recent hit EMD's have taken.

i have looked on Go daddy in the auctions there are tons of aged domains you buy for under $15 this. This looks like a very easy fix for this aged domain problem you can also but alot of aged domains with no back links so you can start fresh.

Buy an aged domain if it may match your keyword or the niche too, after you can link from this domain to your exact optimizing domain. There are lot of strategies for good ranking.

You need a PR3 or 4 domain with at least 100 backlinks. As soon as you buy it, install Wordpress and put up relevant content with your keyword as a backlink.

Age isn't that important. PR and relevance are. These domains can cost you $30 on GoDaddy, plus there's the registration fee plus the identity guard... all adds up to about $60

I'm sick of building funnels. Aren't you? You can buy working funnels making $231/day here for 12 bucks. Have a look.

Not as much as it once was, IMO. But it still has a benefit.

But if you know how to optimize your content & on-page SEO you can generally outrank pages with a higher PR if they're poorly optimized.
