Adbrite Closing Down - End of an Era

Sad to see one of the bigger advertising networks crumble

Dear adBrite Publisher,

Over the last few weeks, adBrite and its management have been evaluating the go-forward plan for the business. Given market conditions and certain financial liabilities, in working with our lenders, we have decided to cease operations on Feb 1, 2013.

This is a difficult decision for all of us at adBrite. However, after much deliberation this seems to be the best course of action despite the impact it will have on all the employees, clients and partners who helped build this business. There will be a team in place as needed to assist with winding down.
Thank you for being part of the adBrite community.

The adBrite Team

I was considering testing Adbrite traffic for a handful of CPA offers just last week. Boy am I glad I didn't pull the trigger there!!

This is a shock though! I used to be an Adbrite publisher way back in 2007. Their payouts were always efficient and I never had any issues with - well - except for the low CPC.

Yeah, its quite unexpected. However if you are using them, start to remove their codes and change to another ad network.

    RIP Adbrite.

Perhaps as they diminish the few surviving ones might be able to pull more clients together and perform better.

Sounds like they were borrowing to stay afloat and finally lenders said no more.

Or the "adbrite is so unfair! They just closed my business down...."

However, to call it the end of an era would be quite a stretch.

Have a look at the Adbrite sites footer links, the Press page hasn't been updated since Nov. 2011, probably a tip off where the business was headed.

Check this page out: adBrite - Advertise on Adsense Alternatives

I noticed when searching G that a few blogs mention Adbrite has been looking for a buyer, apparently that didn't work out.

Wow, that's shame, I used to get a bit of money from my InfoBarrels.

There are plenty of alternatives out there though, if you have good traffic then you'll have eager advertisers. I've had a record month since ditching AdSense on most of my sites.

We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the news this morning!
We can imagine this will definitely create a wave in the industry and are already seeing publishers who are quickly looking for alternatives. Which platforms are you guys considering?

Got this email this morning, they owe me $800 as well. Nothing on the website about it closing or what happens to the money owed. I was using them as first advertiser, with Lijit as the alternative code and Adsense as the Lijit alternative code to mop up any international traffic on my most trafficked site. Got banned by Google on it recently as i accidentally updated the code on one section with videos to include Adsense and a bad video from Youtube got auto-included on a page and they picked up on it and banned the site. No good arguing youtube shouldn't have stuck it there for the tag that was fetched (Nazi video on a board game video tag) they dont care.

Made $300 to $400 a on there as well with the site, had Adbrite as first Ads as it paid more slightly than Google (low value ads). Now stuck with just Lijit until i find something else.

I heard about this on webhostingtalk.com I have an account with them but never made anything. I was unaware of the closure as I had used an email that I hardly use to sign up with them. I checked it just a bit ago and I got the same email.

For alternatives you might try adclickmedia.

Tried Clicksor once unlikely to ever again.
An alternative is Responsive Ads and has some interesting features.

PS: Anybody know if Adbrite's sleazy sister Black Label Ads is going down as well?

Are they going to pay any pending earnings that publishers may have? They haven't said anything about that.

I've had experience with both AdClickMedia and Clicksor, to be honest Ayha and Adbrite seemed to be the only decent ones out there, unless you wanna go down the Google route.

On January 28, 2013, AdBrite sent an email to all of its publishers and advertisers stating that it would cease operations as of February 1, 2013 after a deal to sell the company fell through.
