I would like to know a bit about Infographics. Since it's still a new concept to SEO, I would like to know whether it is more beneficial than Guest Posting? Also I would like to know if an SEO guy can create a infographic, or hiring a designer s the best way.

Infographics have the same seo advantage as image optimization. Hiring a designer will be the best option. If you have to make a choice, go for guest posts.

Thanks for the quick reply abdul.
I have been doing Guest Posts for about a year now. I know they are very effective. But I guess I will get more clicks from an Infographic and also people like to read and will find images more interesting than reading content. Also Images will explain it more clearly.

Aha, that's correct. I was under an impression that you're talking about infographics seo impact in google image search etc.

Yeah, infographics look clean and delivers the message to the viewer very well (in no time compared to long text).

There are a bunch of online tools to help you make them - here's 1 example: Piktochart | Infographic App & Presentation Tool

Sorry I haven't used that site, I was just trying to point you in the right direction because I know others who use these kind of tools.

Try searching for "infographic maker" or "infographic tool" and you should find more.

If your serious about infographics you need to make sure traffic can easily copy/paste the infographic on external sites, bait direct traffic & get a backlink.

    1) The wrong way

    2) The right way

The 1st link is a fail, because it's not an infographic that can be shared, it's simply a HUGE background image.

The 2nd link has copy/paste code below the infographic that will let traffic build backlinks for the infographic page. This is how you create backlinks that are legit, you create useful content then make it easy for traffic to share (copy/paste backlink HTML).

    [example copy/paste infographic share code]
    Code:
    <a href="http://monetate.com/infographic/how-do-social-login-sharing-affect-ecommerce/"><img src="http://monetate.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Monetate_SocialSharingLogins-620x1409.png" alt="How Do Social Login & Sharing Affect Ecommerce?" border="0"></a><a href="http://monetate.com/infographic/">Monetate Marketing Infographics</a><script type="text/javascript">var google_conversion_id=1011239334;var google_conversion_language="en";vargoogle_conversion_format="3";var google_conversion_color="ffffff";var google_conversion_label="dY4pCOKKvwMQppOZ4gM";var google_conversion_value=0;</script><script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion.js"></script><noscript><div style="display:inline;"><img height="1" width="1" style="border-style:none;" alt="" src="http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/1011239334/?label=dY4pCOKKvwMQppOZ4gM&guid=ON&script=0"/></div></noscript><script src="http://munchkin.marketo.net/munchkin.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script>mktoMunchkin("092-TQN-434");</script>
Notice the infographic sharing HTML includes Analytics tracking code (clever).

    Here's the infographic backlinks.

An infographic is basically link bait, which is web content that was created to attract attention and is interesting enough for people to pass on. A big part of SEO is building the number of inbound links that point to your website or webpage. Since infographics display information in a pretty package so that people can quickly grasp a concept, they will, in theory, result in lots of inbound links back to your website as more and more people share it.

It's not at all a new concept to SEO and it's simple. Create amazing content and attract links.

If you can come up with an infographic that is interesting enough to enough people, it can go viral on social sites - and even be published by online news sites.

    Hope you succeed...

An infographic is a visual representation of information. Instead of writing an article or blog post that covers a lot of ground and uses enough stats and percentages to make the reader’s head spin, you can create an infographic that ties it all together in a handy dandy image.

There is no one line answer to your question if infographics work. Infographics come bundled with many benefits and not just SEO

    - They can increase your brand visibility everywhere. In the search engines, social media sites, blogging communities and every where.
    - They play a vital role in gathering backlinks naturally. You create a stunning infographic and publish it, and then it goes viral and would be shared and syndicated by many. Hence you gain huge number of organic links.
    - As you gather links naturally, the search engine rankings would improve automatically (SEO)
    - As you know, images are the most shared content in Facebook, twitter, pinterest or any other social network. Hence by using infographics, you can gather huge social media audience.

I would call infographics as the future of content and social media marketing.

Regarding the debate of Guest blogging Vs Infographics, there shouldn't be a debate actually. If you have an infographic, bloggers would be happy to publish them in their blog. The infographic approach is far better than approaching them with text content. In fact there are services like myblogguest.com where you can find good blogging opportunities if you have a good infographic.

Regarding creating the infographic, there are tools that make the design process a breeze and in fact anyone can create an infographic using those tools. And hence that is the drawback. ANYONE can create it means, the infographic will not be unique. NOT UNIQUE means the infographic won't go viral. Hence it is always good to get it deigned with a professional.

Most won't link to it, but copy image and share it. Make sure your "brand" is represented in a clever way on the infographic, not just at the bottom (which can and WILL be cut)
