Using few fixed set of anchor keywords in blog commenting, directories etc can kill your rankings, especially these days.

Now the only solution is to remove all low quality links & then make few good on-page changes & try to re-index them.

      Things may improve.

      Good Luck!

First, you have to check your analytics and webmaster account. When you lost your ranking and seek for google update around that date. Analyze your website according to that update or check whether it is affected to that update. Then, try to find out the solution to get back on track.

First of all cross check the backlinks you are getting from webmaster tools and list out all the low quailty backlinks for the website and submit it in disallow option of the tool. After which list out the submission websites that you have with you and remove the low quality submission websites.

There are a lot of things which we need to take care in link building, now. We don’t need to make our work keywords oriented only. We also need to reduce target keywords and needs to add some branded or naked urls in link building. Ratio of deep links should be good because it is too important to make link building work more natural. It has become demand when you have to start link building work for your inner pages as well.

You need to check your overall keyword links profile.

Number 1: How diverse are your incoming links' anchor tags? For example if you're trying to rank for a particular keyword, you can't have this keyword show up for 80% of your incoming links. You need to mix it up. Having a keyword profile that has a diverse set of keywords, including long and short tail keywords, is best. For most of my sites my primary keyword only makes up about 20% - 30% of my overall incoming links profile.

Number 2: How diverse is the spread of your incoming links throughout your website? Most people only concentrate on the home page. So if 99% of your links are hitting your home page then chances are you will see your home page disappear. Again, you need to mix it up. Having links hit internal pages (like landing pages and category pages) will help to improve your overall standing with the big G.

How old is the domain? Is it a EMD? When and how fast did you start building links? Without more information we can not help much.

You were probably hit by a google update. profile linking? as in forum profile link? i dont understand why people still do that!! and then when people bring up the term "blog commenting", the first thing that comes to my mind is SPAMMERS. although i do comment on blogs but i try to find the most genuine of blogs and leave a sensible comment that would get approved. i understand how people tend to get so exited and leave comment on every blog possible no matter how pathetic the blog is. been there done that!! thats not the best way to build backlinks my friend.

    1. First check your Google Webmaster Accounts, Whether you have received any alerts from Google
    2. Analyze you back links and remove links that are coming from low quality websites with same Anchor text.

Forum posting, Directory submission and blog commenting will be only helpful in low competition keywords (thats what my experience says ). If you need to gain rankings in high competition keyword 'zones' you need to do guest blogging, article writing and submissions, last but not the least web 2.0 properties. ( in all of them good content holds the key, for example if the content of articles is poor / copied then those kind of links are equal to trash )

Do you mean article submissions for the backlinks? Or to try and get syndicated by other bloggers? (Don't cop out with 'both' - which is more powerful/likely?) I thought the backlinks from article sites were not that strong anymore (for the last year or 2).

This may to due to Google update. Do your off page techniques regularly to increase your ranking. So this is due to panda in this refresh panda affect our 1.2% English queries. To recover this we need to work hard to get rank for all the keywords which dropped.Hope this will useful for you.

My new blog took a hit, I think, It has lost some spots in the rankings. One of the new twists I am doing is creating backlinks to my posts through various means. All High ranking sites.

I agree with what is being said about content, must be good content. I always write post that give relevant information; I am a research nut.

Backlinks from quality sites, and vary the keywords.

My issue is my rankings dropped, but my 2 month old site got a PR1 in the process. I always have my content edited 2 times; reread by someone trusted, and by paper rater. I always support my conclusions with relevant links to trusted sites.

Onpage SEO I keep close eye on, but don't try to over do-it.

Maybe for me it is just the dance!!

Hi friend, there may be different reasons for loss in keyword ranking like...., rapid loss of backlinks, SPAM posting, no fresh content since many days etc. You should first analyze keywords via Google Webmaster Tool, Adword Tool, http://serp-checker.ezmlm.org/ and majesticSEO. I hope these can really help you...

make quality backlinks and stay updated.
    thanks and take care !!!

Or if you are doing the same thing again and again then you won't get much benefit, try to do something different from you did previously.

Well, it's all because of the latest Google Dance. At this time, just continue with ethical link building but very smartly i.e. change the techniques a little bit i.e. start using Raw URLs, maximum Keyword Variations, Guest Blogging etc. should be incorporated in conjunction with other techniques.
