How big is the chance that a domain like mydomain.wordpress.org or mydomain.com will get the same results in the same SEO techniques?

Or are own domain names my easier to work with SEO?

All things being equal, (which they never are, as all of us are different)
    they are the same.

It's the page that gets SEO'd.

If I have an article on squidoo, and an article on my domain, which
one gets the better love? Well, as always, depends! Has nothing
to do with where it resides, for the most part.

I am ignoring site-wide authority and other things in the mix. Those
have really got nothing to do with the question.

Does a lens on squidoo get more love than an article on Joe Shmo's
website? Maybe. Maybe not. Depends. But it has nothing to do
with a blanket statement about which is better for SEO, your domain,
    or theirs.

Most everything on Wikipedia is a sub-domain, no problems ranking pages.

I have a few blogspot sub-domains (ex: domain.blogspot.com), no problem ranking pages.
