Please Clear Up My Paranoia! Google and Spam

Hello Warriors

I've been struggling to get past the idea that one ip adres can go and post links at 100 websites and not get noticed by google as spam.

But then I realised that google will never penalize a website for any action that a competitor can duplicate. Then all the websites would just be out there trying to ban each other! So that cleared up my paranoia about social bookmarking and self link building.

BUT

You all know the google webmaster tools? When you register and post your site at google's webmaster tools, they know the ip adres of the website owner! NOW, if you go about posting 100 links from your ip to forums and blogs, won't google notice? That can't be duplicated by any competition so if google knows that information they can easily penalize you?

Google's budget is basically unlimited, so I think they did already figure this out years ago because it's easy to catch spammers that way because these days everyone is using the google webmaster tools.

If I'm too paranoid here please let me know. I can't go on with my link building without being 100% sure I'm wrong!

If you're posting to a forum, Google has no way of knowing your IP address. The FORUM would know it, but Google is not privy to another web site's logs.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's not in their interest to know that info

i cannot be bothered with something I cannot control. And as far as google's ugly head, I cannot imagine for a minute that they have access to other web owners site's logs and visitors. And I personally don't think they will go that far to spy on anyone else just for the measly amounts or pay offs.

Social bookmarking isn't spam, as long as you follow the rules of the site and post something of value. Google may not give much weight to those links, but I don't think they penalize you for them.

Real link spam is creating 1000 domains with 10,000 subdomains with 100,000 pages each all linking to a single site.

Bottom line, Google could care less about your 100 links.
