Google indexing my attachment pages

I have recently added 3 image galleries to my site. Each gallery includes about 70 images. I have realized that Google has indexed each image as an attachment page. The pages includes an image only, no text.
I know that this is dangerous in terms of SEO.
So, how can I make Google to deindex them?

Just make sure that you have following lines added in your robots.txt:

    Disallow:/*.jpg
    Disallow:/*.png
    Disallow:/*.gif
    Disallow:/*.any other image format

Manish is right. There is another way and that is to use a folder that is also disallowed using the robots.txt file (which I presume you know about?).

then your image url would be http://yoursite/images/your-photo.jpg

and the robots.txt would look like this:

    User agent*
    disallow /images/

Do check the exact syntax as this is from memory and I don't change my robots files very often.

I would have to disagree, Google knows these are just attachment pages and will not penalize your site for this.
