Negative ACRanks?

Has anyone come across negative ACRank scores before? I'm just doing an audit report for a pretty large site with a lot of poor quality links, and many of them have a negative ACRank score.
I can't find anything on Majestic's site about this, and wondered if anyone had any pearls of wisdom to shed some light on this?
From the glossary it would seem that in order for a page to have an ACRank of 1 or higher it needs to have one referring domain, so how does a page attract a negative ACRank?
